Look, I’m sure it’s a great place but I was just totally soured after being charged well over £3 for a soda & lime.

We were so happy to discover the Station hotel when we moved in Hither Green. For the past 2 years I’ve tried pretty much everything on the menu and never was disappointed. They have a very large menu with boards to share, amazing pizzas, traditional pub food, gastropub dishes, cocktails, large selection of beer. They now have hotel rooms upstairs and do brunch on week end. They also do, in my opinion the best mac & cheese I’ve tasted so far: with a slight taste of truffle and bacon! Really creamy and cheesy. Delicious. Just a tip: service on the restaurant side tends to be low when it’s really fast on the pub side(same menu) That’s why I only give it 4 stars(and also because they stopped mussels night which was awesome)

Wow came here with a friend for a Sunday lunch last week we both ordered a chicken roast and it was an absolutely epic feast. Wow. This pub has got everything right.

One of the best outside smoking rooms where you can sit and write in a well lit, heated, and(not that windy, given there is a storm) shielded selection of alcoves. Good Guinness, nice selection of whiskey to chase. Very happy here…

What can I say? FINALLY a local that our neighborhood can be proud of!!! The Station Hotel opened a few months back and now we have a spot to go to whenever we fancy a pint or a decent meal. With the food, I have had hit and miss experiences but never anything horrible. The staff are super friendly and the mix of people is great. Historically, I walked past the Station with my head down hoping not to witness a fight or cat calls from a group of men who had likely been there all day drinking in the HUGE grotty pub. FINALLY, the pub was bought out by a group of guys who have other locations around the area. They gutted it and re-designed the entire interior. Another bonus is the fact that it is located steps from Hither Green Station so worth the excursion out of central London! If you are ever in Hither Green or in Lewisham and need a nice pub to visit, stop by The Station… well worth it.

I live nearby so I’m often in the pub and for a drink and a chat I like it very much. However, I have been a few times to eat and have to say for the price the service is not at all up to scratch, and seems to be getting worse the longer they have been open. One quiet lunchtime we waited half an hour to be grudgingly served two slices of quiche that tasted as though they had been taken out of the microwave twenty minutes earlier, having nearly returned to room temperature. The staff often seem bent on putting us off eating in there — in the last few months almost every time we have asked for a table we have prompted a long face and a sigh of ‘theres quite a long wait tonight’ or, standing in front of an empty dining area ‘we are fully booked from 8(this at 6), so you can’t eat here now’. Classically, today we popped in at lunchtime to book a table for tonight(because we are so fed up of being turned away for no reason) and the floor manager first ignored us and then said very dismissively that it wasn’t a good idea as there were Christmas parties coming in this evening we may have to wait up to 20 minutes for our food. She said we had to understand that the parties were a priority and we would have to put up with whatever we got. If they were busy and apologetic it wouldn’t matter at all, but I always leave with the distinct feeling that we annoyed them just by asking. Possibly living in America has given us the crazy expectation that in a service industry the staff might act as though they actually want your business. The Station Hotel is close, and very nicely decorated since the revamp, but it will be a long time before I intrude on the private conversations of the staff to try and actually spend money there again.

I have eaten there about 7 times since the revamp. I’ll rate the various dishes I’ve had and comment on them to justify my mark out of 5. here goes. Rib-eye steakasked for it arrived freezing and well done so I sent it back. It re-emerged luke warm and well done. So it appears they are incapable of cooking a steak. 1⁄5 Restaurant was 80% full but that should not be an excuse for a poor effort for an £18.50 dish Their Burger was decent enough but am not a fan of brioche as a bread bun substitute and I think their ridiculous serving on a slate type of thing is just irritating. 3⁄5 Roast Beef on Sunday. poor soggy roast potatoes, cold meat, warm vege. Poor effort 1⁄5 Roast Chicken on Sunday. OK but average at best. Difficult to mess up roast chicken. 3⁄5 Monkfish and clams with spagetti. Their best dish but it’s now off the menu and could have come with more sauce. 4⁄5 Ballotine of Chicken. OK but again was almost cold when served. I have brought this to the attention of their staff many times and they just don’t get it. They seem to congregate around the cash register instead of monitoring the chef’s progress with their diner’s dishes. Poor management, no training or customer focus. 3⁄5 Pizza of the day(chicken & sundried tomato). When it first arrived it was burned and had no chichen. I asked and received a replacement which was a substantial improvement. They also offered me a free glass of house red which was a good touch. All in all the Station has tremendous potential but they really need to sort their kitchen and restaurant staff out. The staff know nothing about the food or what the specials are, clearly no pride in their work. It would be easy for a couple to spend £100 here for dinner and have a thoroughly miserable experience. The Station needs to raise it’s game

The Station Hotel in Hither Green has had the most marvellous revamp! Massive pub, with comfy sofa’s, open fire places, lovely décor, good food and large beer garden. Very impressed! Hither green had needed a decent local pub and now it has one.

Further to my last review, this pub now IS so much more and I’m thrilled to review it and say so! Our much needed local pub, having been bought by new owners and given a huge — and fantastic — overhaul is back and man are we pleased about it and by we, I don’t just mean myself and my flatmate but the whole Hither Green community and you can tell this by the amount of us that have returned in droves since its reopening on Wednesday night. The pub and its huge beer garden was packed and very lively. Attracting local families, friends, couples and others that had travelled to visit the pub, it’s great for everyone. Initially we were going to go for a couple of drinks, I had a cider and my flatmate a beer, but then we decided to eat there too and we were so pleased we did as we enjoyed the most delicious meal. I had scampi and chips which was lovely and my flatmate had the beer battered haddock and chips which he loved too. What was /is great at the pub is that now there is a lively, buzzy, friendly atmosphere and a communal one, bringing everyone together. The service we experienced was excellent — quick, friendly, polite, attentive, considerate — you felt that nothing was too much trouble. I can’t wait to return here — whether to visit after work(rather than stay out in town) for a cheeky drink, to try their Sunday roast or to meet friends here. Located in the heart of Hither Green literally a stone’s throw from the overground station and served by a couple of bus routes too. An absolute local winner and well worthy of 5 stars!

Was a dive but has had a complete refit and is now thriving under new management as a gastropub. Decent range of beer including half a dozen ales on tap(though few surprises), perfectly servicable if not terribly adventurous wine list. Food is mostly good pub/traditional faire although they do pizzas and some nice platters if nibbles for sharing too. Paved outdoor are about the back is nice in summer.

I’m not sure that the arrow is in the correct place, but I can’t move it. We had a wake here. They have a large area that is easily made to feel private. Their sandwiches and cups of tea are great and their soup in terrific. I had tomato and basil, the best I’ve ever had. I’m pretty sure it’s made at the pub. The landlady is very jolly, helpful and discreet, Dirty crockery disappeared somehow mysteriously. My daughter and her cousin managed a glass of coke each on the house but i=I didn’t know until a month later. Can’t expand on much more, but if the soup is to go by, it’s a great place.
