Housed in a listed Georgian building, The Union is a great place for that special business lunch or unwinding after a hard day. The crowd is definitely media industry stock and you would probably even be able to recognise the actor on the table next to you or the musician hurrying to the rear of the place in an attempt to preserve his anonymity. I was more than impressed with the Bohemian vibe that was created with the quirky décor and distressed interior. The creaky floors and wood panelled walls give a comfortable feeling that gives the illusion that you are no longer in Soho. Or even in the 21st century. The staff were all very helpful, but were almost self conscious in trying not to kiss any famous ass. A strange mix of attentive aloofness. The lunch was made to a very high standard. I opted for the Duck Salad, which was amazing. Alas, not as amazing as the Burger that my fellow diner opted for. Live and learn! «Well Chris… this place sounds great» I hear you say. Well, the only snag is the membership charge. Oh and don’t forget the first year’s joining fee. Scary price but why am I not put off by this??? Because The Union is a treasure and treasure costs money.

The Union does a good lunch menu, slightly limited, but nice feel to the place. Not toooo Media.

A hidden gem of a bolt-hole for coffee, drinks, light lunch and candle lits dinners — amongst a myriad of trendy bars and restaurants in the bright lights of Soho, The Union delivers and relaxed, informal yet stylish ambience for the well heeled media set without the prentencious hype. Good for chic media-esque lunches and dinner with friends.
