Lamb roast was monumental. Big portions. Make sure you ask for the mustard it will blow your brains out.

Lovely pub with big windows overlooking the high street. I had a delicious baked brown crab served with gremolata which was served with perfectly cooked chips and salad. I only wished they had cleaned the crab(i.e. removed the gills etc) and cracked it at least a bit but it was otherwise a tasty, messy treat!

Went to the Three Crowns on bank holiday Monday when they had the Cornish Ale & Lobster festival on. Lobster and chips for £15 and steak and chips for £10 was a brilliant deal. Very tasty, only problem was that no tools came to eat the lobster so it took a bit of digging, and no finger bowl. Nice friendly atmosphere.

Really delicious Sunday lunch here. You can book a table but I’ve not personally had trouble just turning up(admittedly we do tend to eat lunch early). Yes, they are guilty of serving food on slabs of wood instead of plates – but the food is good. I just wish they would open in the daytime during the week, even one or two days.

I’ve been here a few times for drinks, food and an event. The event room downstairs has it’s own toilets and bar which is good, though it is quite a small room. Came here for drinks and ended up having food, they have a beer/house wine & pie offer on Mondays for £10. The pies are delicious! They have different ones each time I’ve been from gammon and turkey to pork and cider, both were amazing! Overall it’s a nice place to go and have a drink, it has quite a homey feeling with lots of sofas to accommodate small or large groups, and it also a seated area if you prefer to eat at a higher table.

After a long walk with the dog I dragged my friends into Stokey for a Roast Dinner and gossip. After a bit of complaining by one of my companions I pulled them into the Three Crowns and we got lucky, a table was coming free! Knowing how rare an occurrence this is we sat down and had the dog guard our spot. My friends went to the bar to order and as they came back from the bar with our drinks the food arrived at the table. I have never been served so fast in a pub before, especially given how busy the pub was! We had all opted for the beef out of the three options(Beef, Pork or Veggie) and it was tender and cooked to perfection, the dog was rather upset that we didn’t want to share that much with her! We were lucky getting a table so I really recommend that you book in advance, children and animals are welcome, which didn’t used to be the case. I was surprised at the lack of recent reviews on Unilocal for the Three Crowns, given that it was full of hipsters/trendies in the windows with the yummy-mummies pushed to the back and the sofas. This was an entirely organic segregation however, as I have booked a table before with kids in the group and they put us in the window that time.

I love this pub! Absolutely lovely feel and delicious food! Sometimes difficult to get a table but there’s always a relaxed feel. Perfect for a lazy Sunday drink or a belly busting roast!

Nice Deco, friendly staff, average food, average prices… Internet WIFI? No, never works, and if it works, is as slow as the service… Get drunk and have fun!

What a shame, gone down hill or what? Food is much cheaper but at what expense. Chicken and chips with coleslaw better at Nando’s and Burger better at MacDonald’s, neither had any seasoning. Best bit was the Banoffee pie which was clearly bought in. Come on new owners sort it out.

Came here after rock climbing with a group. Climbing and then Sunday roast was the plan. We had to walk a ways from the climbing centre so by the time we were there we were ready to chew our hands off. They had the usual selection of meats, lamb or chicken or beef. I got the beef. twas tasty. Is it sad that I remember the taste of the gravy more than the meat itself? I really liked it. We had to wait a bit longer than usual for our meals I guess because they brought us extra veggies to share for the inconvenience. The drinks were pricey and at one point they actually ran out of a type of alcohol my friend was drinking. and so I had to quickly choose a substitute. Just kind of annoying. It gets crowded there on Sundays so either come early or try to call way ahead and reserve a table… I think they reserve? Nice place, big but awkwardly placed seating so there’s not much room really. At least for lots of Sunday roast groups.

The Three Crowns is a big pub, at the front there is a dining area where you can reserve tables if you wish. At the back is an unreserved area(order at the bar) with many large tables and here’s my problem: As much as I love a great big table to sit around and chat, there were very few small tables for 2 or 3 people to sit at, meaning that when we arrived looking for one of the large tables for all 7 of us, lots of them were occupied by 2 or 3 people. Another seating problem are the sofas, as comfy as they are, I find it impractical to eat off the accompanying coffee table and if you sit in them properly you end up way too far from the person opposite to hear what they’re saying in a crowded, noisy pub. Seven of us came for roasts, and they were decent and filling enough with impressive Yorkshire puds. We did manage to get a table to squeeze onto but there was a 20 minutes interval between one person’s lamb arriving and everyone else getting their food. Loads of other tables were served during the interval which seemed very strange. So, yeah, it’s a good roast but book yourself a table, and just start eating if your food arrives as you don’t know how long you’ll have to wait for the rest. And as for the managers, sort out some more seating for small groups to free up your amazingly large tables — possibly by removing those bloody sofas.

You know when you’re dating someone who just doesn’t do it for you… and your friends ask you what s/he’s like… and the best you can come up with ‘Oh, s/he has a good personality…’ or ‘S/he’s really nice…’ That’s not too far off from how one might describe Three Crowns. Oh, the vibe is pleasant. Oh, the staff is sweet. Oh, the space is nicely sized. There’s nothing –bad– about Three Crowns. It just doesn’t tick all the boxes. While their Sunday roast is reasonably priced and absolutely satisfying, it did take an eternity to come out. I didn’t particularly feel that the place was massively busy, given it was around 1430 when we arrived. Perhaps the kitchen was short-handed? Similarly, I appreciate that a proper pint of Guinness takes quite some time to pour, but I also had to follow up on it when I noticed it’d been sitting for five or ten minutes after it had settled. I wonder if I would have ever gotten my beer if I hadn’t inquired. I’d be absolutely willing to try Three Crowns again. Perhaps it was an off day for the employees. It has the makings of a great destination for a proper roast, if only they’d sort the details…

My first proper English Sunday Roast, and it was really really amazing. I didn’t know a place in London was so so good, but I did have to pay the price. There goes money for the week… I had the Beef with yorkshire pudding and it was delicious! and the plates are def American portions, and in a way, I missed that. Eating till I burst haha. If I had the money, I would come here every Sunday. Next time, will try the pork. Oh, and you have to book in advance to have a table seat, but eating on the couches weren’t half bad. Looking forward to my next visit!

This is pretty much the first pub I walked past in Stokie when I first came to have a nosy round the area one late afternoon before I moved here four years ago. Nice looking pub, I thought, this is probably a place that I would be happy to live in the near vicinity of. From both inside and out it looks like the type of place that you would want to hang out in… big leather sofas, massive mirrors, lots of vintage wooden miss-matching furniture, attractive staff… The range of drinks is pretty extensive, nothing wild, but they have all the staples you expect from a decent bar or pub, but they don’t come cheap. Two bottles of cider for just under 9squid, a cocktail(will recommend the hazelnut mojito/caipirinia, sounds weird but tastes ace) for at least 7squid. Big dollars are needed, but you are paying to sit in a nice place, so its not a terrible shock. Three Crowns seems to have been voted Stoke Newingtons number 1 date night location for local beautiful couples on a Monday night, so yes, you do get a great sofa to lounge on as its not heaving, but you aren’t gonna meet the man /woman of your dreams, as they are all making eyes at eachother, leaning in a little closer to hear funny stories from the office and simaltaniously draping an arm round the back of the sofa, in the ever subtle date night snide move to subtly put your arm around your date without getting the instant shrug off or getting accused of going in for an over the shoulder boob grope… classic move that never goes all that well! Remember that guys. Weekends are much busier, so not so many sofas going spare, but more hotties to eye up. And they just opened up an underground club, The Drop, so bonus points for that too.

«NICE» as a rude boy would say! A fab Stokie boozer with Sunday Roasts and lovely cocktails. Don’t expect it cheap mind you, there’s a spoonies down the road if you want that! I’ve been here a few times, for drinks, for dinner, for a date, for coffee, to use their loos… I like it I really do. It has a certain charm with it’s huge tables and comfy chairs. They have a top notch menu but it doesn’t come cheap, over a tenner for most mains. You can either sit in the foodie area or in the bar bit which I quite like. They also have dreamy staff. I do enjoy a good flirt when I’m at the bar and these guys oblige me nicely! Yes the Three Crowns is a winner, it’s also a star spotting celeb hot spot with Peaches Geldof chowing down on a roast here!

I came here before, many moons ago. During the day so I did not realize quite how dark they like to keep it in the evenings. Had a job seeing my friends! This time they had one real ale on. There were a couple of other pumps, but they were out of service unfortunately. This is a big modern bar and not to my tastes at all I am afraid.

Three Crowns is a particularly average pub. For one reason or another it is always pretty busy but personally I find it all a bit uninspired. I came here once during the day and struggled to find a seat that wasn’t plunged into darkness, the lighting is terrible and doesn’t make the place feel very inviting. Price wise everything seems a bit steep. Stoke Newington might be a young and trendy place but it’s hardly central so I don’t understand how they can justify the £5 a glass wine. Food is equally pricey and the menu is a bit ‘gastro’. Although it’s nice to have a bit of variation, this is still a pub and there’s no way I’m paying £16 for a main course. Reading this back I realise I sound a bit bitter and skint but I had high expectations for this place when I first moved here and they’ve yet to be fulfilled. The Three Crowns is not a place I’d choose to eat or drink, frankly there are far better options nearby.

The Three Crowns is not really my kind of place. I find it a bit trendy, but not in an interesting way. The leather couches, the table set up and the general vibe is all a bit bland. I can see why people like these places, but I would prefer something dingy with a bit more character any day. Located on the corner of Stoke Newington High St. and Stoke Newington Church St., It just doesn’t seem to fit in with the vibe of either strip. I have heard that the food is good but it looks quite expensive. The beer is good and everything is served to a high standard, but I would prefer to take a stroll down Church St and find a nice quiet little bar with character.

This huge gastro pub is in my opinion better for drinking than it is for food. I only ate here once, but it was an overpriced and rather sparse roast dinner. I don’t mind shelling out for good food but the very nature of a Sunday roast is to be hearty and filling, this was gourmet style, as if prepared by a French chef who didn’t quite get it. Drinking here however is quite a different experience. It’s romantically lit and plushly furnished with big sofas arranged around huge tables and dark wood floors. Being a nice, big pub in a location like this one means that it’s usually quite busy and atmospheric. The last time I went in they were playing a strange selection of Beatles covers but they do have a turntable and a late licence at the weekend so I assume the music isn’t always this ropey. People that drink here tend to be pretty friendly and it’s always nice to pop in for a drink although I do try to eat first incase I’m tempted to order the expensive food.
