RUDESTSTAFF I HAVEENCOUNTERED. AVOIDTOMMYGUNSATALLCOSTS. I WISH0STARSWASANOPTION. I was invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace and my sister booked us into Tommy Guns to have our hair done first. She said I wanted a dip dye and she wanted a half head of highlights. This was agreed upon. When I arrived, Percy was my hairdresser. I told him I had booked a dip dye. Percy then told me he would not do a dip dye, that dip dyes were uncool, last season and out. He said he would do a grown out roots look but nothing else as it would be an embarrassment. I told him I wasn’t bothered about being uncool and I wanted the dip dye I had booked on the phone as I wanted a low maintenance style without roots showing. He stepped back and said he refused to do it. I was astounded at how rude he was being and simply told him in that case I would have to leave! I left the salon in tears after being attacked at my choice of hair style. I did not get my hair done for the event as a result of the rudeness of this man and it put a dampener on my entire day. It is a salon’a job to do what you want to your hair. The customer service was abominable and none of the other staff stepped in or defended me. Nobody offered to do it instead and I was humiliated and made to feel stupid. If you want to risk being turned away from an appointment you booked time away from work to attend and leave a salon with your hair the same but having been berated and insulted, then choose Tommy Guns. If not then AVOIDTOMMYGUNSANDTHEIRVILESTAFF, EGOTISTICALATTITUDEANDHORRENDOUSCUSTOMERSERVICEANDRUN A MILE. WORSTHAIREXPERIENCEOFMYLIFE!!!

The staff were really nice but the quality was bad. I went in to get my roots bleached and get a hair cut. The bleach was too strong, and now I have a large tuft bit on the top of my head when my hair all broke off. She literally combed it over and said it wasn’t a big deal. It’s a tuft, about an inch in diameter, on the very top of my head– to me it’s a big deal and hasn’t happened before at any other hairdresser. They also said it would be between 130 – 150 then charged 185 with no justification. Poor job at an increased cost. Won’t be going back.

Couldn’t be more happy with the great cut that Brett gave me at this cool Soho Salon. He cuts my girlfriends hair too and we think he is one of the best stylists in London. The vibe is relaxed and has a has very old school salon look to the interior. Always ask for Brett

Tried to book for both my girlfriend and myself, but had the most bizarre/unpleasant expreience with the guy on the phone. Basically, I indicated that I prefer razor cuts(which I have had done at many great salons in the US, Canada, and UK and which I was introduced to at Scruffs in Cambridge). I asked if they had someone comfortable with that. To the contrary, they apparently have a shop policy against this, as they are not a barber shop. WTF? I am not asking for a shave! That is just embarrassingly ignorant. And the guy was super rude to boot, loading on the attitude while simultaneously demonstrating his utter lack of professional knowledge/experience. There must be better options than this! However, looking at some of the other reviews, perhaps I might have dodged a bullet. Wake up TG!

I was recommended them by a friend who always gets their hair cut there and I was not disappointed. I’m consistently unsure what to do with my hair and normally go to a hairdresser’s with a vague idea of what I want but nothing fixed. The advantage of Tommy Guns is that they know style, I told the stylist my ideas and instantly she had thought of something that took them and then made it cool. I’ve had a fair few comments on my hair since going there, all good, and compared to some of the hairdressers in London I would call them decent value for what you’re getting. Don’t forget to take advantage of the free beer/wine/coffee/etc.

CONS spam texts: I would like my 21pence returned now. The costs of 3 junk text messages. Tommy Guns sent me 3 unsolicited text messages, and these message were something about ‘your’ salon. You may be surprised to hear this, but I am not thinking about your salon on a bank holiday weekend, you should be so lucky. I could expect these spam text messages from ‘Jimmy-Chop-Chop’ in Chinatown, but not from TommyGuns. Enough with my rant, just thought you should know that spam is never a brilliant marketing tool. Never. PROS good people: I want to say I like the salon on Beak Street, great vibe, some good people(Andre, Amy and Brett) and wicked soho location. I may continue to get my ‘doo-done’ again at that location, only time will tell.

Only have one thing to say about Tommy Guns, GO! Have sent loads of friends here, they love it. Their cuts last because they’re good. And I agree with the previous reviewer, they are expensive but think of it like this. You’re willing to go buy loads of clothes and wear those, but you wear your hair every day. Trite, but true.

One of my favourite places to get my haircut! If you could use one word to describe Tommy Guns it would be cool. The interior is so effortlessly retro with its butler sinks and funky tiles. A glass of wine is appreciated after a hard days work and the music is a mixture of the latest indie funky tunes. One of the things I really like about Tommy Guns is they never use straightners on my hair– their blow dries are good enough to allow for this and they rarely use a lot of product either. The quality is in the cut. Unfortunately this doesn’t come cheap at a flat rate of £50 for a ladies cut and blow dry. It is worth mentioning that they don’t seem to have different levels of hairdressers here such as juniors/seniors and consequently different price levels. Everyone is just very good. You get what you pay for.
