I used to live across the street from Vesuvio and stopped by for coffee pretty much every day. It’s tucked away in a quiet section of town within walking distance of Westferry DLR station and the Canary Wharf Pier(Thames Clipper). The café is small and cosy on the inside, and its walls are lined with postcards from around the world. Outdoor seating in a lovely and peaceful courtyard is also available. Customers like myself come to Vesuvio for the friendly service, the atmosphere, and the coffee. It’s not gourmet coffee, mind you, but it’s fine. The area where Vesuvio falls short is with its food. It’s not brilliant to be honest, but it is pretty fairly priced. The English breakfast is OK, as are the pastries. If you do order food there, keep it simple and shy away from the more elaborate dishes on the menu.

Hidden away in a quiet corner behind westferry station, this italian place serves its purpose of a local café to the apartments and estate agents that surrounds it. Service is great as they do free delivery and take outs, and its nice to sit in the courtyard outside when its sunny Quality of food however was less than impressive — the few times I’ve been the coffee had been burnt, and the pastries were dry. But for the price i paid it was somewhat expected

Fantastic find for me when doing some work round here not much else around. They do a great job of catering for everyone that passes by or has this as their local. Real Italian flavour and character to the place, and good food and drink. TV on in the background news usually in the day which I like here, suits the urbane nature of the place. V good machiatto makers for sure.

One of my top 5 cafes in London — excellent Italian food, very reasonable proces(e.g. pizza or pasta for under £5) and very friendly service. Close to the river and Canary Wharf, with a pleasant square in front to sit if the weather’s good.

Bijou Italian café near the river. Friendly service and tasty food. Excellent coffee and some of the best home-made chocolate fudge cake I’ve had. All served by gorgeous waitresses. Viva l’Italia!

This is a great café. We and many of our cycling group have been using it regularly for several years. The food is good, excellent value for money and the staff are friendly. Try the salads, the paninis, the pasta and simple pizzas or just go for coffee, a beer or good Italian lemonade. In the summer you can sit outside but away from traffic. It’s a bit hidden away but worth seeking out, not far from the Thames Path and Canary Riverside, nearest public transport for bus or DLR is Westferry station, on National Cycle Route 1(no formal bike parking as yet but we are working on it!)
