Not your authentic banh mi! I came here and thought it would be authentic with the name but unfortunately I was let down :( They need to nail the flavours down! Add spring onion and more pickled carrots, egg butter… Please add roast pork belly in your menu!

Oh oh oh yes I was excited when this opened, because I went there 1 hour after it opened and QUEUED! Yes I did! It was a 15 minute queue but it was also 50% off and so off we go! Staff was friendly, especially the lady who came over from another restaurant(sorry forgot which restaurant), had a lovely chat with her at the till and we even discussed Blacklock down the road: D Drinks wise, they offer Vietnamese coffee but they have only one coffee machine and not enough staff to work it(well under the opening week circumstances anyway), best of luck to that, hope they sell iced coffee but didn’t look at the board too closely guys even though I’ve been there twice, sorry! It can be your next adventure!!! Food wise, I really enjoyed the beef and also the BBQ shredded pork. I think it’s best if you looked at the chefs counter at what the meat looks like that day before deciding which banh mi to order. The first time I went the beef looked like horrible leftovers but a few days later it looked nice and freshly cooked. I would recommend adding chilli sauce to give you a nice spicy kick. The summer roll tasted less than average so at £1 it was not a good deal.

I popped in the other day to grab a quick lunch. I do love banh mi and summer rolls, and I thought that it would be perfect in to enjoy in the lovely sunshine. They have a selection of fillings for the banh mi, I wasn’t sure which to go for so instead I ordered the mini banh mi where I got to choose three different fillings. I went for the chicken, pork and thai fishcakes. I also ordered a summer roll, making up a total of £9 for my lunch. I was given my summer roll in a separate box whilst waiting for the banh mi bread to be heated up. The summer roll was a bit flimsy compared to others that I have had, and didn’t hold very well which turned out to be a bit more messy than I was expecting. The banh mi looked very pretty with vibrant colours, but unfortunately I could not say the same for the taste. The chicken and pork was really dry and quite hard, like it had been left out for too long… The thai fishcakes were okay. I’m not sure if this is always the case, and there is no doubt some tough competition in the soho area, so hopefully they will improve with time…
