Great traditional pub with tons of classy character. Even 2 tv… of course turned off… but they are there for soccer(football) and rugby games. Great carpeting throughout for us dumb Americans who have sore feet after 3 days! 8 draft beers and a true local pub. Compared to the Nag Head next door, this is truly a local pub with class… and two pints of Guinness costs 1£ less!

We stopped in this place after doing our best to avoid a tourist trap. This place looked perfect. It was on a side street trapped between some buildings and out of sight to anyone but local residents. The proprietor of the place was a salt of the earth gemtleman who was quick to serve us and humbly recommended we try the homemade chicken and onion pie. Sounded good to us. Grabbed an ale and enjoyed the atmosphere of the place. 3pm on a Thursday afternoon so it was only locals here… mostly business men and some academic types. An old wooden bar surrounded by bookcases with various relics of the last few decades and handfulls of books. Some American and British 60s music playing quietly in the background. The food was a mix. While I wasn’t a big fan of the sausages that we had to start with, the homemade pie was entirely too tasty. I pride myself on self control at a meal but this sizable mass of puff pastry, cream, chicken, onion and other flavors was just too good. They included fries too but who needs fries when the pie was amazing. Fantastic place. Off the beaten path and a must go for those seeking good old fashioned British food.

Not one of my favorite pubs in London but one of the only ones that seems to be open later than the others. We tried to order food one night but they quit serving food fairly early.
