Been to Wooley’s twice for a sit in lunch with my fiancé as it’s close to both of our working places. In summary: absolutely delicious hot food that is vegetarian friendly and won’t break the bank! First visit: we ordered the vegetarian lasagne and mushroom stroganoff topped with white(?bechamel) sauce and grated cheese for £5.35 each(+40p extra for the sauce/cheese) Second visit: ordered the vegetarian moussaka and walnut and pomegranate stew. Both times we had them with quinoa salad and brown rice, respectively. We were savouring every single spoonful of food as they were very flavoursome and by the end we’ve always been properly satiated! To top it off the guy serving us was always smiling and helpful, even when it was busy with customers. They have a separate deli bar and serve desserts but we’ve never tried them so can’t comment. But we have no hesitation in recommending this gem of a café, if you’re in Holborn/Russel Square!

Meh. My sandwich from here was nice… but the staff were so dappy and confused, and it was pretty overpriced… so I don’t think I can give them more than 2 stars. — There are two entrances. While I was there there was a queue on one side of the counter, but then people wandered in from the other street entrance, and started a new queue on the opposite side of the counter. Of course the staff served the queue-pusher-inners first. Grr. — The lady that made my sandwich started toasting hallumi for me, then got distracted and took payment from someone else. She then let me pay… then went back to finish the sandwich. By then she’d forgotten what I asked for, so she asked me again(and then again for good measure — she really wanted to give me chicken for some reason!) After she finally put the sandwich together, she took it back to the counter and tried to get me to pay again(wtf!?) She didn’t seem to believe that I had already paid, even though she took my money less than 2 minutes earlier. It is a sunny day and I was in a really, really good mood! Under those circumstances I am genuinely perplexed how they managed to annoy me! I guess my English-ness can’t cope with bad queuing systems?! There are quite a few nice things to eat in this area, so I won’t be back.

If you need sandwiches catered to a large group Wooley’s will suffice. If you are looking for lunch I would avoid their overpriced salads and over cooked curry.
