I definitely wasn’t impressed with the staff working there. Went there with my friends really late on Friday night(13.03.14). Girls at the bar were very busy tidying up, so I had to say ‘sorry, excuse me, sorry’ many times to finally get a drink(no one else except me and my friend was ordering a drink). The lady with red hair was rude and told me to ‘stop saying sorry cause it’s annoying her’. Security men on the other side were very nice and helpful, shame the bartenders weren’t so relaxed.

I love this place! Came here on Saturday night for the first time. Great music, great crowd, local, only a fiver to get in and open til 6am! A girl tried to nick our coats but I think thats pretty standard in London!

Had a great time dancing around to rockabilly with my pals, the crowd was mixed but laid back & and the place had a good rock and roll vibe. The DJ mixing through a telephone handset was a wee bit of a tos*er but he played good music, a good time was had by all. Plus it’s open pretty late which is always a bonus.

Strip club until 12am, rockabilly after… The best thing is to turn up between 12am and 1am and experience the remnants of the seediness that took place beforehand. Women wandering around scantily clad followed longingly by dirty old boys with pints of ale… In the back room(mirrors surround and envelope you) you can still see the running order — 12pm-3pm, 3pm-7pm, 7pm-12am…can’t imagine the 12pm slot does a roaring trade… But all this adds to the great character that The Axe boasts. Lots of fun, open late — until 6am — a rarity in Shoreditch… Definitely worth a look, especially if you are stuck for something to do on a weekend and fancy a quick easy laugh

I’m addicted to the AXE! I can’t get enough. With it being open so late you can have a regular night out and then have an additional night out here at the Axe all rolled into one! I tend to go on Saturdays when the Music is Rockabilly tastic, but by the time I’m there my brain has lost all ability to process tunes anyway so couldn’t advise either way about the quality. The place is always rammed shoulder to shoulder and the crowd is always tops, can chat away to plenty of randoms and dance like a tw@t without(too m) any eyebrows raised. There is also a good ‘bab shop round the corner and then not too far for the N37 to get me off to bed. If you aint been get on it. it’s tops. see thee in there peeps! Oh and if you get there early you can even catch the last session of pole dancing and private dances.

I came here after a late night at Shoreditch House. It seems this place is open until very late(6am) so worth going to if you fancy a heavy one. Don’t really know the area too well though, so there could be better around. It didn’t blow me away that’s for sure.

The phrase ‘Rock-A-Billy Rebels’ would normally instill fear into my life particularly when placed in Shoreditch, but this has to be one of the best nights out I’ve had in a while. Considering how much I go out you should not take that statement lightly. Every now and then Ye Old Axe, 69 Hackney Road, holds an evening that even if you have only ever listened to one Elvis Presley track and enjoyed it, you should consider going to. The night starts at 12pm and goes on til 6am, it does get busy so I would suggest that you get your stamp and pay your £10 sooner rather than later. ‘£10!’ I hear you cry… it may seem a little steep to hear a couple of DJs you have never heard of before but this is such an unusual night it is worth it. The place is packed with packs of leather clad biker boys and hair slicked back with so much gel it’s a teenage boys dream. I reckon that over 50% of the people there were in Rockabilly costume, myself included. The only down side to this place is the girls that put great effort into their costumes and scowl if you spill some drink on them or stand on their peep-toed shoes. Seriously, this place is for having a great night not looking like a perfect pin-up, although they are quite nice to look at! The dancing is fast and fuelled by fair priced drinks served by extremely friendly bar staff. This place is a gem in what can be a Shoreditch nightmare. The night has been going a while and every week more people turn up. This I expect will just continue. Retro culture is upon us and is growing. I really enjoyed it anyway…

I’ve only ever been here for the Rockabilly night on a Saturday, but it’s one of my favourite nights out in London, and I had my birthday here in April, as it’s somewhere that pleases everyone. You don’t have to dress up, but it adds to the fun and you’ll certainly feel at home. The night is hugely popular, and if you get there after midnight, expect to face a queue. Conversely, arrive there before midnight and you’ll be confronted with a strip bar! The first time I went we got there dead on 12, and walked in to be greeted by a group of men cheering at our entrance! The owner came in, apologised that it’s sometimes a «bit disturbing» and suggested we go elsewhere for a drink and then return! We stayed on as the stripping was over, but witnessing the transition was quite something — the looks on the men’s faces as a stream of rockabilly dressed 20 somethings waltzed in was priceless! The place quickly fills up and can get a bit too crowded, but there’s always the upstairs area to escape to, which sometimes shows films, complete with sofas to curl up on. It goes on until 6am and is the perfect place to go to for a good dance and fun night out.

It’s amazing what a few drinks can convince the mind to think and the feet to do. The Old Axe at its 4am drunken best is the closest vibe to a wild house party I have come across in London. Two of the best nights I have ever had in London were spent ripping it up in true rockabilly style on the Old Axe dance floor. It gets very crowded in here on a Saturday night. Physical contact with sweaty, jiving strangers of some sort or another is pretty much guaranteed. It ain’t the most salubrious of venues — the carpets smell, the bathrooms are falling apart and you can go exploring up strange staircases behind the cloakroom. Then again that’s part of the fun.

Ye Old Axe is a strip bar that turns into a Rockabilly night on Saturday at midnight and goes on until 6am. It really is a great place to come on a Saturday night when you want to spend the night dancing to some rocking music and have a great old time. It does get very crowded though but I’ve met some interesting people here because you literally keep bumping into people on the dance floor. A eclectic mix of artists, people who work in media, punks and of course people who like dressing up in rockabilly outfits. It’s £5 to get in but I would advise you to bring cash as they charge you 10% at the bar if you use a card.

Another one for Halloween. While this dodgy old public house was undergoing major rebuilding work in the 1970’s, the remains of two bodies were recovered from beneath it — the sounds that followed, coming from the building late at night convinced many the dead didn’t appreciate being disturbed. Although down-at-heel, the wood panelling, brass lamps and cosy alcoves hints that Ye Olde Axe would have looked rather grand in its day — whenever that was. The pub is now renowned as a classic East End typical strip pubalthough heard rumours it is closing/closed. My review is just for the ghosties.

A strip joint during the week(I can’t review that particular service), it turns into a rock’n’roll nightclub on Saturday nights. It’s only a fiver in and there’s a great vibe, with the crowd really up for a long night’s dancing. Keep going ’til 6am if you dare.
