I attended a ladies lunch here today and it was simply delicious. The ambiance is very peaceful and the service was quick and friendly. I had the set lunch for £8.55(ish) with a starter of Tom Khar soup with a coconut cream sauce, lovely! And a main of green curry chicken served with steamed rice, also ‘yum yum’! We had a bit of a mix up with the orders and a lunch forgotten but other than that it was a very nice experience. The wheelchair access is a bit tricky getting into the restaurant but the lift inside to the toilet was very convenient. I would definitely try it for the dinner atmosphere. The restaurant is enormous and plenty of room for large parties. Must try!

Pretty nice Thai. I’m addicted to the tofu mussaman curry, which is pretty unusual for someone who isn’t a vegetarian and doesn’t typically like tofu. The pad thai is also very nice. We often get delivery from here and they usually come in good time.

Of the four times I have eaten in Yum Yum I have found the service slow and the food overpriced. The cocktails are lovely, but I wouldn’t recommend it except for it’s beautiful setting. Also it is worth noting that their food hygiene rating is currently not an acceptable standard.

First visit. Good green curry with prawns. Service was standard but quick and food came fast also. Spring rolls were lovely. But could use a bit more sauce.

Another popular eatery this time for its thai cuisine. The pad thai was good but a little dry. Also, they don’t offer the 30% check-in offer shown on Unilocal, but the manager did kindly offer us a 10% one time discount. Would eat here again, although the service was a little slow towards the end.

Ok, so if you’re on this page you’ve probably seen the«50% off food» that is clearly on their site. The restaurant however claim to have no knowledge of this. I asked the waiter who asked the manager, the manager came over and very swiftly told us they don’t do it before walking away. We had to ask the poor waiter to go and get them again so we could ask why. «I’ll come talk to you in a minute» we were told, 15 minutes later and we send the waiter to find the manager again. He reluctantly rolls up to our now starving table and tells us the offer doesn’t exist, refuses to answer questions etc. we received no apology and were made to feel like we were ripping the restaurant off! The food– the mains were good, small portions but good quality. The fruit salad with fish sauce starter was the worst thing I’ve ever tasted, the rest was good but definite 2 stars knocked down for rudeness

5 stars for the beautiful décor and ambiance 2 stars for the slow and unfriendly service 2 stars for the so so food. Nothing with ever compare to authentic Thai cuisine, but there are better and more reasonable Thai restaurants in London. Food was either extremely bland or ridiculously sweet. So beautiful but so disappointing!

Disappointing experience at this restaurant. We hadn’t booked and they were able to find a table without a problem but we were warned that we had a maximum of 2 hours to eat, which sets a bad tone straight away. There were only two of us! Food was average, overpriced and rushed out. Staff were nice but evidently more attentive to larger groups, and our waiter changed multiple times. I expected a lot more from this restaurant but it has declined since the last time I went. I think quality has suffered since their popularity has taken off over the last few years.

Went here for New Year’s Eve. Waited 45 mins for a table that we’d booked in advance. When food arrived it was luke-warm, prawns were overcooked and weren’t deveined, and tempura was essentially scampi. Easily the worst Thai I’ve ever been to, and I won’t be back.

Yum Yum is… well, the joke is too easy there, but yes, it’s pretty delicious. I didn’t actually come here for food, so I can’t speak about that, but the cocktails? Man, these cocktails are phenomenal. Well prepared, a long list of interesting concoctions(I got one with gin and fresh grapes called The Lonely Tree) and strong. Just the way I like it. The atmosphere is sleek and chic, mood lit to the point of maybe being a little too dark, but with comfortable seats, even a nice area around the corner from the entrance for drinking only. They did play jungle sounds instead of music, which was a little strange, but when I stopped focusing on it, it actually was kind of relaxing. Cocktails run about £7/£8 a pop. I’d come back for them any day. Next time I might even try the food.

Yum Yum was a great find while in Hackney, fresh and delicious food, very popular place with the locals. I will have to thank Unilocal for this find as we had no idea where to go for dinner ;)

Yum Yum indeed! Situated on high street in quaint Stoke Newington, is the best Thai restaurant I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. It appears that Gordon Ramsay concurs! The atmosphere is sexy and exotic, the food delightful and perfectly seasoned, and artfully presented. We choose to sit«Asian style“on the floor with large cushions and generally order mass quantities of different items to share that are spicy, hot, sweet and salty!.Some of the highlights are the Thai green curry cooked with king prawns, coconut milk and fresh Thai herbs, Chicken stir-fried with ginger, onions and black mushrooms, lemon grass chicken fresh black peppercorns, coriander roots, garlic, coconut milk & soya sauce & baked to perfection! The starter spring rolls and soft shell crab are excellent. After several bottles of wine, you tend to forget what you are eating and enjoy the combinations of various flavours and aromas as they hit your palate!

This place is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve been to in any western country. The ambiance is amazing and the food is even better. I’m sure you can find a ton of descriptions here to get a feel for the food, but I’ll leave it at this… if you are in the area, don’t think twice, just go now!

Went here for a birthday treat yesterday and completely loved it! Service was good but not intrusive and the food was delicious can completely recommend the lamb massuman curry and the cocktails. We sat at one of the tables where you take your shoes off I can recommend this as it was slightly less busy than the main restaurant area and it was a bit different. I’ll definitely be going back here and bringing friends with me it felt like the sort of place you would want to go to for a treat or a special occasion.

It is rare I am truly captivated by Thai food in a restaurant but Yum Yum has made me rethink how I look at Thai food. I absolutely love food from Thailand but have found a lot of the stuff you get here in the UK is a bit run of the mill. It can sometimes make you feel a bit like once you’ve had one pad thai you’be had them all… same can be said of green curry et al. But Yum Yum really blew me away. It’s in a great location, is absolutely stunning on the inside and there wasn’t a lobster tank this time around so I got to have a wonderful meal with my beloved uninterrupted by cannibalistic lobsters.(If you don’t get where I am coming from see my review I wrote on here about Pattersons). We had some dim sum to start, then I opted for some beef with long beans which came with lots of chilli. My beloved had scallops with chilli and thai basil and we shared some coconut rice and had a dish of morning glory which was cooked with blackbeans, garlic and chilli. To say it was amazing isn’t doing it justice. I want to go back as the food was so good. I also liked that the menu was large, varied and I do believe there is something for everyone on there. They didn’t go too crazy with the chilli either so you weren’t left with your tonsils on fire or anything like that. The cocktail menu is well worth abusing, I mean, sampling. The delicate balances of slightly unusual ingredients all worked and was at a rather reasonable price too. For dessert we shared a coconut crusted banana fritter which came with coconut ice cream and a palm sugar biscuit. It was divine and well worth ordering. I can’t wait to go back and sample more stuff from that menu as it had a lovely balance of everything and was reasonable. Most expensive main was around £14 and they had a good selection of set menus too. I suggest you go there ready for a food marathon as your taste buds will want to do a culinary pentathlon(well mine did anyway)

Beautiful interior – dark, elegant, and well appointed. Even on a busy weekend night, there’s enough tables to go around that you won’t need a reservation unless you have a large party. Besides a bar area, there’s regular tables plus tables recessed into the floor where you’ll have to take your shoes off. Once seated there, your shoes are whisked away and you’ll have to rely on the possibly much too large or too tight slippers for getting to the downstairs ladies’ room. Tread carefully; the floors are slippery. The curries and pad thai we ordered were all good and the ingredients tasted fresh. Sadly, the portions were tiny – definitely plan to order an app and dessert or consider splitting three entrees between two people. The coconut rice was gorgeous as were the many interesting cocktails on the menu. The crème brûlée was lovely with a nice crust and the lemongrass flavor was just pronounced enough without being overpowering. The servers were uniformly sweet and helpful.

Yum Yum is mas-siiiiiiffff and can accommodate a crazy number of people. Take the maximum people you can fit in a mini and add the number of people you can get on a double decker, then multiply it by the number of sweaty bodies crushed on a rush-hour Central line tube carriage. This place is BIG — bigger than Tom Hanks in Big combined with a Big Mac to the power of the Notorious B.I.G. .You get me? On this particular Saturday night it was full of birthday parties that seated about 30 people per table, one of which I was part of. There seemed to be a more intimate area at the back of the restaurant where smaller parties sit on cushions on the floor. Additionally there’s a cocktail lounge area as you walk in with happy hour before 7.30pm(I think) — only the place was rammed and I was queuing so long that the hour was up by the time I was served. By the downstairs loos, there also appeared to be a secret drinking lounge area– complete with a man on the door to prevent entry to rampant toilet seekers. I was completely utterly under the grip of an evil deathly cold, and was trying hard to not sneeze on my companions. I shouldn’t have been out at all, and perhaps wouldn’t have made the effort had I know there would be 29 people at dinner to take my place(gripe over!). So dosed up on three times the legal limit of lemsip, I might not have been in the best frame of mind to judge everything with a clear head. However it seemed to be me that the place was way too large and busy for my liking and the staff were clearly overworked. It was hard to attract their attention. As our party was also large for ease we ordered the set menus. Although we received plenty of food, the assortment of starters in our ‘yum yum platter’ were all deep fried and pretty homogenous. For mains the vegetarian set menu we ordered came with Thai red curry with vegetables, Sautéed aubergines, Mixed vegetables and rice. I did like the fact that the vegetables weren’t overcooked and were very crisp. It was nice enough, but all pretty standard. The set menu was definitely overpriced at £22 — £26. If you want to forgo to the funkily lit décor, then you can get a more varied meal at many of the other Thai restaurants across the capital. For instance £12 at the unglamorous Charlie Wrights in Hoxton gets you similar but much better value fayre. In summary — pleasant food but not particularly spectacular. Let’s go to the smaller less dolled up Thai pub down the road tonight luv?
