I really love this pub as it has a very quaint English feel. It has a very nice deck that has a great view over the forest, which is ideal for summer days! However, we have been on Sundays for their food and were disappointed. We ordered a fish dish, which was overcooked. Therefore, I would recommend this place for drinks as it’s one of the best places in Loughton for a pint, but would not recommend their food.

This is my local pub and I love it! The first time I moved here I was so happy to see that we have a good family friendly pub. I go here almost all the time. And the food is delicious! The staff is very friendly and very attentive. You’ll love to bring the kids and the dogs as well! You also have the most amazing view of Epping forest which makes it that much better.

I live locally and have used the pub since college days in the seventies! It’s been in various states of disrepair over the years but is now in the best condition in my memory. Contrary to another review I’ve never seen the landlord worse for wear or abusive. The beers are good, it’s not the cheapest but it’s not the dearest either. I recommend it if you want a quiet drink in lovely surroundings.

Really good Summer pub on the edge of Epping Forest. The pub has benefitted from recently (ish) adding the patio area for outdoors drinking overlooking the forest, in addition to the enclosed grassy beer garden. Lager selection is fine, including premium/​extra cold Kronenbourg/​Carlsberg. I have sometimes felt the inside of the pub to be a little off-​putting, one of those places where you could feel you were intruding on the regulars’ clique, but I have always found the staff to be friendly. Not tried the food, but the menu looks good.
