SADDDDDD why was the hot chocolate from here so bad? It tasted so bad I contemplated throwing it away. And I NEVER throw food or drink away. Buy the magical thick hot chocolate machine dude! Also didn’t really like how I had to break into conversation between the server and the one other customer to place my order — awkward especially in such a small place. Also was hoping for a sandwich given they are prominently advertised outside but could see only three(sandwiches, not options) and no menu so basically this was a bit of a lunch disaster. He did know someone else’s regular order though!

There is one of the best cafes in Manchester, in my opinion. It has top quality coffees, funky and tasteful décor and I felt for it the second I sat down. It looks less edgy than those independent coffee houses in Northern Quarter. It has a more approachable while chic style inside which is just right for me. I had a flat white and a slice of Lemon Drizzle Cake on a lazy afternoon. The flat white is one of the best I have tasted in Manchester. The cake is amazingly tasty, which blends lemon and caster sugar perfect and the cake is really moist. It’s a shame that it had been closed permanently since 4th October but a new venue around Old Granada Manchester is to be opened soon.

Great coffee in a part of town dominated by large mega-chains, I can now enjoy a proper good brew in Spinningfields! Caffeine and co. have a couple of other branches, their first on St James Square is a teeny little shoebox of a shop, and café in Longford Park in Chorlton, I don’t get to visit these places very often as they are out of my way, so when Caffeine & Co announced their opening in Spinningfields I was delighted. Housed in a corner unit, clad in rough wood with lovely dark interior, it’s a relaxing place to meet people for a quiet drink of your preferred brew, along with some tempting looking cakes. The baristas are all clearly very passionate about the coffee they make, with real attention to detail and special blends available to take home from some of the big independent roasters and smaller artisan ones. If you’re hankering for a good cup of coffee around Deansgate then don’t think about going anywhere else than Caffeine & Co.
