One of the many fast food places surrounding the Sackville Street/Canal Street area is Speedy Peppers. I am always of an undecided mind about Speedy Peppers, due to the conflict between quality of food and pricing. The food is by no means poor quality, but I don’t think that the quality served qualifies the relatively expensive price tag. A 10″ pizza with double pepperoni from Speedy Peppers will set you back at least £5, which can be beaten elsewhere. The restaurant/takeaway is small, and partially underground, which can make ordering an interesting experience when slightly ‘worse for wear’. It is not cleaned during the evening, so by the end of the night, it can be quite dirty and filled with rubbish. They do deliver, although they are not overly reliable, and when the food is delivered it is often cold or lukewarm at best. Speedy Peppers is non-descript — it does the job, but has tough competition, and needs to watch out and straighten up.

Speedy Peppers is definitely very popular to the crowd that comes out of 5th ave across the street at 3am! And they must love it, since alcohol diminishes all expectations from food! It’s a regular pizza and burger, fast food joint but boy the prices are sky high for such a place! Just a 10 inch pizza would be around £9−10 which is as good as just calling dominoes home! And you may think that the pizza must be delicious, but believe me when I say, its clearly not! Apart from the food being disappointing, the guy behind the counter is mostly at his peak of rudeness with customers, not a smile, not even some sign of humane behaviour. If you ask him for an empty extra box, he will want to charge you. Yes I said EMPTY box! If you’re not drunk don’t even dwell near it! If hunger strikes like no other after 5th ave and you don’t really care about being ripped, take a chance!
