«Tesco Café» is a chain of Café’s owned and run by Tesco, and of course found in — Tesco stores. This particular Café is inside Tesco’s Cheetham Hill Superstore, which is in a good location, fairly close to Manchester Fort, City centre Manchester and as well as a few other shops including Costa Coffee and Grainger Games in the same complex. This Café, is located on the upper floor with a lift /stairs, and has a good view of the store with it only taking up a 1⁄3 or so of the«upper» floor. This is quite a nice café, a good size and of course with toilets and mainly follows the traditional café layout, with the same lift(although a little larger) and the same type of counter and color scheme, as the Middleton store for example. The staff here seemed nice and friendly, and I had a nice chat with my server, who seemed rather friendly. With not a great selection of non-breakfast gluten free foods on the menu, I opted for a meal with ham, mashed potato and eggs, taking a twist on the standard«Ham, eggs and chips» meal to make it gluten free, and with the mash only available at the café for their limited edition Christmas menu, I thought it was well worth a try! The mash was very creamy and not great quality, it obviously was not fresh, and still tasted quite bland even with flavoring and wasn’t great, which was quite regrettable ordering, especially the whole meal coming to a whopping £4.99, which certainly is a lot for a simple meal at a supermarket café, which isn’t known for being top of the quality with Gordon Ramsay style cuisine. The eggs were cooked well, and much better than recent experiences at the Middleton store, and the ham also tasted good quality, but still without a good gluten free side to accompany it, it did ruin the meal. I would like to see the chips made gluten free in the future, but with cross-contamination, they is probably more chance of Garry Monk becoming Prime-minister after getting sacked from Swansea. Overall, this is a nice café with reasonably food, reasonable pricing and nice staff, and probably one of the better Tesco Café’s. I feel they have just scraped 3 stars, and although this rating is slightly generous, it is more deserved than two.
