Yo! is a little expensive in my opinion, and there are other options in Manchester which are better, but I still find myself here from time to time due mostly to the convenance of it being in the station. I do enjoy their dishes and the staff are polite although polite and friendly are two very different things. On the whole if I have time then I will find something in town, but if pushed for time you can do worse.

It is what it is. Sushi. Yo Sushi, probably the biggest Sushi chain restaurant in the UK has never failed to disappoint me. If you’re in a rush and looking for a quick sushi snack or if you want to spend time grazing the afternoon away by taking plates off the belt, this place caters to all. I know what most people say, Yo Sushi is expensive — and yes, it can be. I find you need to be careful what you order as those different coloured plates soon mount up and you can end up with a larger bill than you thought. I had 3 plates(pictured) all at varying prices and a bottle of Coca Cola. The bill was £12 — which isn’t too bad for lunch. I’m full up and was in and out of the place within 20 minutes in order to catch my train. Bigger Sumo plates can be made to order at £8 each too!

Had the teriyaki rice bowl to go. Loved that it was hot and it was a good quick meal to have on the train. Downside is that the meat was a little tough, perhaps overcooked. Taste was overall ok for £4.90

Just came back from having Yo Sushi. I’m a vegetarian and had ordered the vegetable gyoza. I was served and bit into a duck gyoza. However — and I cannot stress this enough — the manager, whose name I wish I had gotten — was incredibly apologetic and made up for the error. He even brought my girlfriend, who is vegan, a special menu that clearly spells out all ingredients in each dish, as some veggie dishes have egg. I am impressed with his immediate action and will definitely eat at this location again.

Awful. £7 for a tuna and salmon selection that was appalling in three main respects: very thin scrapings of tuna on the nigiri, funny tasty salmon, and limp salad. Where is the good takeaway sushi in Manchester?

Yo sushi will always have a place in my heart and although this one is situated in one of the busiest stations in the UK, it still takes me away to sushi heaven and I forget about all the hustle and bustling. Situated on the upper level overlooking the manic bodies below, you have a row of booths and chairs around the chefs table. A bit of music in the background and small TVs displaying sushi adverts. Rapid button alert service from your table. Staff seem friendly enough and chefs give you the odd the smile. The menu is vast(examples; sashimi, noodles, skewers, maki, salads, desserts, smoothies, nigiri, rice, hand rolls) and I’ve pretty much tasted everything. The only thing I could whinge about in regards to the food at this restaurant is that they don’t do TEMPURA! Annoying! I love tempura, soft shell crab is a necessity. So after feeling tempura deflated I ordered these chicken kebab balls(can’t remember the name) and they were cold, so I sent them back and received a new plate nice and hot complimentary, so not too bad(only reason they didn’t get 5 stars). They also have different promotions on, «Blue Mondays» is my fav, every blue plate on a Monday is £2.50, errm… and they do chefs specials, 25% student discount with valid NUS, and Christmas specials. If your grabbing a quick snack on the way home, there is a fantastic takeaway selection, bento boxes etc. It’s a shame this restaurant isn’t bigger but it’s suffice for the location. All in all a good experience every time. Enjoy!

Eep. I feel mean as the other reviewers seem to like this place… but I can’t give Yo! Sushi more than two stars. The sushi was just not happy-making enough. I was really chuffed to spot Yo! Sushi before jumping on my train out of Manchester. I Loove sushi, and I’d prefer to eat my way through a bento-box than a sarnie. I spent £5 on a salmon & avocado /crab & avocado maki set from the ready made section. Meh, meh, meh. I’m still not sure how they managed it, but the crab had absolutely no flavour. Even the wasabi was bad quality — it didn’t mix into the soy sauce easily… and didn’t taste right. I wasn’t even full, so had to wander over to M&S for fruit as an attempt to salvage my lunch-time-food-happiness. *sigh*

Yo is just Yo, it’s pretty decent everywhere, but for me it’s well worth the 10 minute walk over to the Arndale as in that branch you get the full experience and the chefs are quicker.
