Star Swan

I phoned this company for the first time since I moved to middleton I had never used them before and my experience was awful, the driver tern up and asked me were I was going I tried to show him my hospital letter with the address clearly written on the top he told me to look the address up on my own phone and refused to look at the letter that I shown him with it on . he then locked me in the car and drove round Salford town center and down side streets refusing to go to the address I had given him he then put on a show pretending to be lost pulling the car up to passers by and telling me to ask them were the address its and the whole time I asked people for directions he sat grinning to himself not listening to a word the of the directions the person I was forced to ask was telling us to go! he carried on driving round in circles and down side streets by now it was getting really scared I knew he was doing this deliberately and I asked him to let me out of the car 5 times at this point we had been driving round for over 1 hour I had never been so scared in my life I burst into tears and begged to be let out of the car so he then phoned his company and asked me to speak to his receptionist he then opened the car widows so me and her could not hear a word each other was saying she offered to send another car to come and get me but because of the noise of the wind blowing though the windows she could not here me and hung up, he then drove round in circles again for another 10 mins before finally taking me to my hospital appointment witch I almost missed because of all this, later that day I got home to find my house key was missing by slight of hand wile he had distracted me with his phone he had taken my house keys and knew my address as he had picked me up from it I had to phone the police to report what had happened and to get my house keys back off the drive who did this (who the pretended I had dropped my keys by mistake in the back of his car) the manger of the company apologised to me but I will never use this company again in fact I have been to scared to get in any taxi since this happened to me!

Despite my previous encounter with Star which was a negative one, I decided to give them another chance, as they are the cheapest company to the airport, costing 30 pounds for a mini-​bus, with all other Middleton taxi firms charging 35.
On both occasions the drivers and phone support staff seemed nice, rather than shouting at me, like my experiences with Connect in the past.
The drivers seemed to arrive on time and pretty quick (when I phoned them after touching down at T3)
The mini-​buses were relatively comfortable, on the return journey however, the front didn’t have a lot of room, due to a glass barrier, I understand why it is needed but still it can be uncomfortable as it stops the chair from going back, I would probably recommend sitting in the back of these mini-​buses, as it would probably give you more room, and let you speak to who you are in the car with, as it can be hard to communicate from the front to the back of a mini-​bus.
Star Swan still isn’t a perfect company, the memories of my experience in 2014 I still remember, before I give them a rating higher than 3, I want to use them on more occasions to make sure they maintain the high standard, they did on getting me to and from the airport, and to be honest I can’t penalise them on the car they drive! (Although it wouldn’t hurt if they picked me up in an Audi RS3!)

Less-​known taxi service which operates in Manchester. Can be slower to respond than some of the others but the actual service is great and the drivers are all friendly and helpful. Recommended.

I have learned from audacious experience that you should stick to firms that operate in your area from Manchester. When staying at friends in Salford, this taxi firm was great and so responsive it always arrives on time when ordered. When you ring up the staff are friendly to talk to and normally only takes a ring for them to answer you.
You can trust this firm to pick you up at club kicking at times when the streets are bustling with punters for taxis. However, Swan they never give in and stick to picking up there customers who have pre-​ordered. I find swan to be one of the most reliable private hire in town

Lucky me, it was raining torrentially on my recent visit up north and I needed to get from Salford to Manchester Piccadilly to catch my late evening train. I debated the wisdom of heading towards the tram stop in my strappy sandals and realised, once I’d braved the elements, that was far from the most sensible option.
Hooray for the cab I spotted, close to the entrance of the Lowry! I shook the water off and jumped-​in, to be greeted — in a very friendly manner — by the driver who obligingly drove me a brief distance away, to the closest tram stop. He was pleasantly chatty with a good sense of humour and didn’t bat an eyelid, or seem at all concerned, that it was such a short (and cheap) journey.
