We didn’t book any accomodation for our stay in Wales, and just thought ‘oh we’ll find somewhere that looks nice and see if they have a room’. We were VERY lucky because we got the LAST room at this hotel! The room was a great price, very comfortable & the fact there was a bar/pub where we could get an evening meal on site made it even better — good range too! Breakfast was included and we would definitely look at staying here again :)

Went here over the weekend. One of the staff was being obnoxious about a customer to another member of staff while we stood at the bar. This did mean I wondered what they’d say if we complained about anything. Food was really mediocre to. Mine was a chewy microwave lasagne and partners didn’t look great either. Previously we’ve had good experiences here, so I hope it was just a hiccup but in no rush to go back. Pity really.

Good Budget HotelSelected via after review from Trip Advisor. Needed normal services on weekend visit to see friends in Newport. Efficient service, good breakfast, quiet, comfortable just everything you need without having to pay for things that you don’t.

Usually I say ‘you get what you pay for’, however in this case its not true. Although this is a cheap and cheerful 2 for 1 the food is much better than you’d expect.(I recommend the steak pie). The food is very nice, the portion sizes are very good and there’s lots on the menu to choose from there are a few supersize meals on the menu for those with a big appetite. In terms of atmosphere its ideal for families, there is always children running around the place, and therefore usually a bit noisy and chaotic. There is a childrens play area(ball pit), however my sister would not put her toddler in there as she thought it was too dirty. Clearly not a place to go for a quiet, relaxing or romantic meal but a great family friendly restaurant– ideal for those with kids and on a budget.

This is a very popular two for one pub situated just outside Newport, alongside the pub is a hotel offering comfortable affordable accommodation. Food is served all day everyday and the two for one deal means that when two or more people eat, for every main meal ordered you get another free which is good value. The meals tend to be very basic i. e scampi, steak, pie, lasagna etc and they do not have a specials board or anything different but you don’t expect that in a two for one pub. They have a wacky warehouse, which is a indoor play area, which is ideal for families as the kids can enjoy themselves whilst you relax over a drink but it also means that oisy children are running around the restaurant constantly!!! So basically the New Inn serves great value food and drinks, with somewhere to keep the kids amused but if you want a quiet romantic meal then this is probably not for you!! hence the three stars.
