One word — Skink. I know — it sounds awfully rude, doesn’t it? Even so, you HAVE to try this excellent brassiere’s version of the Moules classic. I’m not ashamed to say I order it every time I visit Newquay, and I look forward to it all the way down the coast! Their white Rioja is the perfect accompaniment, by the way… This place is a little island in a sea of tacky tourist traps — I don’t know how they do it, but they seem to be able to avoid all the passing stag do’s, despite the offer on the website, and attract people who are looking for a good feed and a nice bottle of wine(although it is HUGE fun watching the fancy dressed victims, sorry partygoers, on their way to their next binge…). The highest recommendation is that this is where the locals go if they want a peak season night out. The menu is wonderful — mostly locally sourced, and fresh as you like. They also have a full bar, and are open for breakfast right through to late evening meals. A real gem — but if you take that last bowl of skink before I order, I’ll be forced to — well, cry actually! So just don’t, okay???
