Ask Restaurants

This can’t be described as fine dining at any stretch, my partner ordered lasagne which came in an oblong shape (plastic ping microwave food in my opinion) which had been cheekily put into an oval Le Creuset type cast iron skillet, my dinner was a chicken caesar salad with wait for it. no more ingredients than a handful of lettuce, a dozen croutons that were so hard I could not bite into them and 7 small pieces of chicken (I did count them) and a few parmesan flakes. The wait for service was interminable and the waitress curt. I could have popped into any supermarket and cobbled this lot together for about 6 to 8 pounds TOTAL. Left feeling ripped off and vowed never to return. Shame on you ASK!!!

Was a busy night with the typical office Xmas party groups and rapscallions jovially bustling about their business. Set against a back drop of scantily clad teens attempting to dupe the bouncers into letting them into their clubs, A chill pricked the air, and I was feeling very cold, to be young, sigh, and venture out in winter in summer attire!
It was the night of the big plate, and wanted Italian, yep i wanted Pizza, washed down with some Italian lager. Our waiter looked about after warmly greeting us, and sighted a table, he could squeeze us into. it wasn’t the best seating, and conversations from all angles were heard with the utmost clarity, I felt included.
The menu prices were typically chain, so around 8 to 12 pounds per pizza. And the starters were a couple of pounds each, so typical kind of cost for eating out, competitive.
A few small carbs to start, so we went for the and a ciabatta and olive oil and balsamic vinegar. to dip to share. Pretty standard, good bread, not enough olives, had to pull out the sad face for that one.
The pizza, was very good, not the best I have had, just the right amount of everything on it to make me savor it.
The only bad point is when I tipped the waiter, he seemed slightly embarrassed, no I didn’t tip him small, so pfffft. He seemed to scurry away in case I made a mistake. Why not ask just like in Canada or elsewhere, that, «i will get you some change», then I can politely say, it is okay it is yours? Maybe even draw a smiley face on the bill and write their name, if only!
Overall would go back, loved the food. its pizza its beer its staple;)

Friendly atmosphere. Good for couples and parties. Tasteful and professional. Parking in the Derngate carpark. They used to do a chocolate cheesecake that my husband would commit a crime to get hold of.

Had delicious 3 course mea, try the spaghetti then the banoffee pie it was delicious. The service was excellent and all staff were attentive to your needs. Did not wait long for the bill and would definetely recommend to friends/​family.

My partner and I have never considered going here as it always looked very expensive, however one evening we thought why not! I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The food was moderately priced and the portion sizes were ok
This place is also worth a visit during the day for a coffee cake (the Oreo cookie cheesecake is the best!)
The atmosphere here is warm and pleasant. It’s very similar to pizza express in some ways. I’d recommend this place for both couples looking for a romantic evening and groups of friends looking for a nice place to enjoy great food, drink and company

We had our staff christmas meal here and I was very impressed with not only the meals but the service to, how they managed to cope with so many of us and some who were already very drunk I do not know!
Food was very good, hot and well made and also came out very quickly considering how busy the resturant was.
The resturant itself was very clean and had a good atmosphere with plenty of staff on hand to help with anything you need.
I would recommend Ask resturant to anyone and often visit about once a month as it offers good value for money.

I went to Ask recently for a friend’s stag meal and was very impressed with not only the way they handled a rowdy bunch of lads, but also the food. There was a great amount of choice and the staff were extremely patient and friendly. The location of the restaurant makes it perfect for a pre-​theatre meal or before heading into town. A really nice example of this popular chain, located at the top of Dernagte, close to the theatre & opposite the very attractive Guildhall.
Service is possibly the best I’ve ever experienced in Ask, food quality consistantly good.
This building used to be the tourist information centre, & is quite small creating a nice intimate eating environment.

I really like the food in Ask, there is a great range of pizzas and pastas available and the atmosphere in the restuarant is really nice.
The prices are not too bad and I have always had really good service in this branch of Ask.
The restaurant is quite small and I do feel that the tables are quite squashed in together. There are a couple of tables that I wouldn’t want to be sat at as they are right on the edge and where everyone walks past. You wouldn’t get much privacy. There are some other rooms upstairs which are good for couples on romantic evenings or for groups of people such as a hen night or works night out.
The only negative point I have about this restaurant is that the bar area is so small and if you have to wait for a table, there isn’t a lot of room and only a couple of small sofas to sit at. The last time I went here, there were loads of people waiting for tables and it became a bit uncomfortable with everyone standing around.
It is a lovely restaurant with great food and service, but it is a bit on the small side. If you love Italian food though, I would definitely give Ask a try. Be warned though, they do get really busy, especially on a Saturday night.

This restaurant had a lovely atmosphere and was very clean and tidy in comfortable surroundings. There was an excellent variety on the menu especially for myself being vegetarian. Unfortunately the food was initially slightly cold but reheated by staff who were very polite. I would recommend this restaurant and have no concerns about returning for a further visit.
