Amazing pub food!!! Sunday roasts were absolutely amazing — some of the best I’ve ever had. Thick moist tasty lamb and pork roast slices, great Yorkshire puddings and really generous portions! Puddings were great too — especially the cheesecakes! Nice beer garden at the back too

I felt horribly hungover my entire time in this pub and can give a detailed review of the clean toilets, but not so much of the food which I couldn’t eat but which did at least look delicious, even though I at one point had to move it out of my direct line of sight. They do doorstop sandwiches with a wide variety of choice, I chose crab and avocado which was obviously the worst possible option when nauseous but is likely delightful otherwise! Everyone else enjoyed their food though(as much as they could eat through their own grisly hangovers!) and the staff were very nice. There’s a huge amount of seating so it’s ideal for groups. Kid friendly too.

The Recruiting Sergeant is a GastroPub, a mix of old meets new, it may look like a traditional pub from the outside but inside it has modern décor with an old-world charm. Expect a roaring fire in the winter months, adding to the atmosphere of the place. It serves high end food, which is always delicious! The last time I visited I had the Trio of English Lamb with Fondant Potato, Celeriac Purée & Caramelized Onion Jus, it didn’t disappoint! For dessert I had the Warm White Chocolate Blondie, Milk chocolate Ice Cream and Honeycomb, which tasted as good as it sounds! The visual presentation of the food is always top-class, but you won’t miss out on portion size and always get plenty of food, plus it tastes great! The staff are very friendly here also! Would highly recommend to family and friends in Norwich!

Excellent food and terrific service! More so for being a village pub that is nearly in the middle of nowhere. Me and two colleagues took a local’s recommendation on excellent restaurants in the area and took a taxi out to the Recruiting Sergeant. Standard beers on offer, but the dinner menu was a very wide variety of local foods and interesting mains. If the waitress hadn’t come, we’d probably still be trying to decide on meals. In the end, a cajun-marinated ribeye steak with ceasar salad, the seafood tapas(as a main) and baked fish of some sort. Check the pictures. It’s a good thing we were warned to avoid starters unless we were really hungry, because there was a lot of food on these plates and we ate ALL of it. My steak was cooked perfectly and the nice tapas platter looked heavenly while my friend with the fish nearly liked the plate clean. We chose to skip desserts and finished off our beers. Which is not to say that the desserts didn’t look tempting, we just didn’t have room. Fabulous service, really good food, a decent price. What more can you ask for? We’ll be back! Notes. No wi-fi. Really large beer garden in the back looked comfy for a sunny day.

A picture says a thousand words… clean plates everywhere. I guess the only complaint might be that the portion size was a bit too big(not really a complaint for me as I like my food). Service was very pleasant and well informed(our resident wine buff was kept well entertained with a good choice of more unusual wines). The«real» beer was very well kept, and served just as I like it(without unnecessary froth). There was also a nice choice of Belgian beer(only in bottles though). Nice open fire too.
