Absolutely brilliant. Went here on a Sunday with some friends. Service was great, very friendly staff who were up for a chat. Food was good. Would definitely go here again. Despite us staying after the closing hours, the staff were happy to have us and we didn’t feel rushed at all.

The Spice Lounge has been consistently good since it opened a few years ago. It was a real change in the style of Indian Restaurant in Norwich, with its stark white interior, wide open space and fluorescent lighting(no booths or a piece of flock wallpaper anywhere!). The food is fresh and tasty, served on modern tableware. The service is friendly and attentive. As regulars, I would say we have a good level of banter too! For a city centre location, with great quality food, menu selection in a modern appealing environment; I can highly recommend. As a claim to fame, George Michael hired this place for a private party after he played at the Norwich City Stadium!

Mmmmmm. Weird place. This is a large-ish, good-ish, friendly-ish Indian restaurant slap bang on one of the best parts of town. I wasn’t poisoned, but wasn’t elevated to any great heights either. The service was good until it started filling up then fell to pieces. The food was well cooked but somewhat bland. The prices though were very reasonable. That and a Bollywood film blaring at me from ten feet away gave me something to occupy myself with. I don’t know but, masochistic that I am, I like to judge an Indian by the inevitable ring of fire the next morning. I can report that this Aardvark won’t be requiring the assistance of the ‘brigade. Ok. Four stars then. The staff are incredibly friendly and I keep finding my way back here. Humph!

I am goining to mark as a 5 mainly for being consistantly good, possibly excellent. Another reason for my high scoring is the high standards of hygeine management. This is recorded on the scores on the doors council website. Excellent service, excellent menu, friendly, nothing too much trouble, oh and of course the tasty food is the main reason for my revisits.

Another business trip, another new restaurant to try. On expenses: D One of my colleagues has eaten here a couple of times and we wandered through the windy cobbledy streets of Norwich trying to find it, and when we eventually did it was like an Oasis in the Tombland desert to me, on account of I was absolutely hank marvin. We had poppadoms, starters, drinks, mains and a naan and paretha for just over £50 for three people, which is pretty bargainous if you ask me. I did stick to water all night, because I am sensible, rather than Old Speckled Hen like my compatriots, but still. I had the spinach bhaji to start, followed by spinach and lamb curry with pilau rice — all very tasty indeed(I love spinach, I’m like Popeye, me). The only teensy complaint would be that the lamb was a wee bit chewy rather than tender, but the flavours were spot on, the service was fantastic(prompt, helpful, friendly and warm), there was a bollywood film on a plasma screen telly opposite me, and the lads enjoyed their food so as I can’t give 4.5 stars I’ll round it up.

Whe have been dining in Spice Lounge since the first opening weekend, and the standard of food has always been excellent from that first meal. Even the most basic dish, Chicken Korma for example, is flavoursome and generous in size, unlike some curry houses where the basic cheaper dishes are bland. The meat they use(chicken, lamb) is good quality and tender, and the vegetables are tasty and fresh. The basis elements of an indian meal, which most of the quality is measured by, are excellent. poppadums, naan breads, rice and bombay potato for example are second to none. However, the most important plus in Spice Lounge is the friendly welcome and the attentiveness of the staff. Just by us being regulars, we know the staff by name, and they us. The waiters always ask how we are, and remember events we may have chatted about previously. It really does make a standard trip for a curry, into a really lovely experience. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, and we are always asked for any criticism about the food and general experience by the waiters. I have personally never had such a tasty indian meal, and such a warm welcome as one you will get in Spice Lounge.

This is actually called The Spice Lounge not Spice Longe. This is up there with The Oasis as one of my favourite curry houses in Norwich. Ambient lighing and a waterfall gives this a more modern rather than authentic Indian feel. There is a small welcoming bar downstairs where you can have a drink before you eat. The selection of main courses, chef’s specials and side dishes are very good and you should easily be able to pick out your favourite dish. Service is very efficient and the waiters are all friendly. They also have square plates! which add to the uniqueness of this place. Recommended A+
