Zizzis Restaurants

Good food, and large portions. Pasta and pizza are good quality and the atmosphere is quiet and relaxed. The staff are friendly and especially make an effort with families to talk to the children and get them involved which is lovely to see and you can always find a voucher or two online to make it even better value!

Lovely and varied menu in the newly opened Zizzis. Very friendly and helpful staff. When the waitress heard I am lactose /​wheat intolerant and hence couldn’t have a dessert she offered me a soy latte made from her own personal soy milk. On the house! I will definitely go back. Good children’s menu too.

1, word — CALZONE. Its nearly as big as your head and is with goats cheese and a medly of roasted vegetables. The chefs are on display and the lcoation is perfect. In the summer you can sit out on the shingle and watch the world go by. Nice restaurant both upstairs and down. Have eaten here 5 times now and it never disappoints.

Just next to the car entrance to the Cathedral you’ll find this Italian restaurant.
It’s makes a change from Pizza Express and the budget Pizza Hut.
They often run deals in association with the Telegraph news paper or online so check if you can save your self some pennies.
They have the stone bake oven on display and you can watch the chefs toss your dough.
The garlic bread is really tastey though will leave you in a stink for tongue talk.
The seafod paella was really good with plenty of prawns to pick out in the sea of rice.
Perfect for a relaxing Sunday hangover.

I tend to choose this pizza restaurant over for example, pizza hut/​express/​ask, as it seems to have a classier more ‘special occasion’ ambience.
the food potion sizes are extremely generous, and the garlic pizza breads are full pizza size, so be warned if ordering as a side dish!
There are lots of pizza choices and they seem to be a little more ‘adventurous’ than the usual chains ie gorgonzola, artichoke kinda thing. The atmosphere is really cosy and friendly and I have often sat in there long after we have finished food with wine and coffees, without being hassled to move on. Try and get a seat downstairs though, as the smaller upstairs area has less ambience and a little more effort is required to get the waiters attention.
Overall a great, reasonably priced italian experience, even though it is a ‘chain’. the wine is good also, and the service friendly and not rushed. Recommended!

Personally, Zizzis are the best mainstream Pizza chain. The pizzas are very generous in all of their restaurants. In contrast, Pizza Express pizzas often lack in the cheese department, while Pizza Hut are very greasy.
The puddings and specials at Zizzis are generally very good, especially the Honeycomb cheesecake!
They also do a nice selection of premium beers, such as Peroni and I think a higher quality version of Peroni as well.
The pizzas aren’t too dear either, at around £8.

In the old pizza one pancakes too building on tombland, this venue will be remembered fondly by students of Norwich past!
In its current guise, Zizzis offers a fantastic Italian food based menu suitable for lunch or dinner, in a bright and spacious room, accompanied by excellent wine and coffee.
I challenge anyone to find fault with the food and the service here — their salads are to die for, as is their tiramisu, and nothing seems too much trouble for the staff, especially when you are trying to fit in a decent meal in your lunch hour — you can manage to do this without feeling rushed in any way!

In a pleasant location close to the Cathedral — it’s just far away enough from the hustle and bustle of the shops to enjoy a quiet lunch, but still city centre. Decent food, pretty standard Italian fare, but a good selection, and with helpful service and reasonable prices.
