Very cool spot. I came in after shopping at Vic centre as it’s right around the corner. A very interesting gothic themed pub with plenty of iron and spookiness. I ate. Had the steak ale pie £7.95. It was hot and huge and delicious. Loads of gravy which I appreciate. Served with chips orang and peas. I also a pint and now I’m onto vodka red bulls. A double is £4.95. I only used half my can and so have another just double vodka at £3.95 which I think is a good price. There’s an extensive mixed drinks menu which looks fairly impressive. The crowd is very unpretentious. There’s a range from the after work business crowd to hardcore goth looking types.

I can only speak to the drinks… Nice and cold and friendly people behind the counter. Great place for a group. Fun trivia nights and hidden toilets. Try it out!

Came here for brunch after discovering that The Walk Café was shut down. It was my first time here but my friend who knows Nottingham quite well. Had an all day breakfast which was ok, nothing amazing, there was a good variety for alcohol. This place is more catered for rockers and indie which you could tell just from looking at it. It is a good place but not for me. I would only visit this place if there was no other option.

One of the only pubs where it is guaranteed that somebody will ask where the toilets are, as they are behind a secret door in a bookcase, the Pit and Pendulum is always guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Perfect for nights out, eating out, and just sitting and chilling out with a beverage, this is one place I visit time and time again. I recommend the 7 Deadly Sins cocktails, as you will never taste anything like them YUMMY

Good theme pub. Always busy. Food is surprisingly good. Not the cleanest pub.

Part of the Eerie Pubs chains which has three pubs across the UK. As the name of the pub suggests its a gothic themed pub with two levels and plenty of seating, hidden toilets through the bookcase door and generally a great gothic themed bar. Has some great offers on food and drinks and some wonderful cocktails worth trying! Worth a vist to the website and signing up to the newsletter as I got some money off vouchers sent to me when I did! Rock/metal music and it was busy but not crowded and managed to find a table easily.

A fail safe stop off point for any night out. Gothically themed, but I have never felt uncomfortable here. The music is rock/metal/alt and although not a devout fan it suits the setting and makes for a good night, particularly pre Rock City. Food wise, think cheap and cheerful pub grub. Nothing outstanding but nothing offensive. A real selling point here is the Seven deadly sins cocktails they offer, with something for everyone and normally on offer these are well worth trying.

A decent pub with a great atmosphere. The gothic theme is well done, and the mix of metal/alt/rock music fits in nicely. Food is good and reasonably priced, and the range of drinks is great. Staff are very friendly and the service is generally good, although at busier times you might have a short wait before food arrives. Well worth a visit.

This place is awesome, beyond awesome… it is the perfect night out for any rocker. The music is great and could have been stolen straight from my MP3 while the drink prices are very good. My favorite this about this place was the decour as it was fabm very gothic and halloweeny but for all year round, it’s a proper metal hang out. Another totally top thing is their seven deadly sins drinks. Every sin has a drink and every drink is devine to the max. Me and my friend made it through all seven in one night and because they’re not that strong you won’t be seeing them again. All in al if you like rock music you will love this place to the ground.

Well decorated theme pubfrom the flaming torches outside, the toilets hidden behind a bookcase through to the seven deadly sins cocktails. Does seem to cater for the more gothic group, but I didn’t feel unwelcome. A place you go to for the décor and the atmosphere.

Pit and Pendulum is part of the Eerie Pub Chain. It is a themed pub on two levels. The interior is gothic and very dark. They sell cocktails named as the seven deadly sins. A pitcher costs £6.66. There are lots of tv screens inside which keep playing the same music video or film again and again. The music they play is alternative/rock/metal. They serve food which is really nice but you can be waiting a while. The price of the food is reasonable. The toilets are downstairs and hidden behind a book case. They have speakers in and speak to you.

I first stumbled into Pit and Pendulum by accident, thinking it was Pitcher and Piano! I was supposed to meet a friend and was very late! Anyway, it introduced me to a new themed pub which I’ve been abck to many times. The best thing about it is the toilets which are located through a secret door in the bookcase — fantastic! Other than that, it’s a gothic pub in a great Victorian building — which on occasion can be quite scary due to the clientel! Visit and see what I mean!

I always have a good night when I head to the Pit and Pendulum. It’s a themed pub that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The interior is a goth horror fest but without being too chessy or full on. The goal is to get through all 7 of the Deadly Sins cocktails to get the infamous T-shirt, without falling over/throwing up/making a huge fool of yourself. Not that any of that matters here, it’s a very easy going place with a good atmosphere. It attracts a whole range of people and anything goes. If a toilet can be classed as exciting, then these are as they are concealed behind a bookcase in the wall. Not just fakely concealed, but really-if you don’t know they’re there and don’t see anyone go in or out of them, you won’t find them!

Pit and Pendulum has got to be one of the most remarkable pubs I have ever been too. I only get to go now and again as Nottingham is a bit out of the way, but everytime I go I make sure I come here. From the outside you wouldnt realise this is a pub, it looks like some Victorian-fronted building. The interior is something else, it basically looks like a converted medieval crypt, the detail on everything from the walls to the decorations to the beams is outstanding. The grand feature for the venue is a fantastic scuplture chandaler hanging from the ceiling straight down the stariway to the basement level, very ftting for the gothic theme of the pub. My personal highlight for the pub is walking through the secret door in the book case to access the toilets, its like something out of Lord of the Rings! As with fitting with the design, all the cocktails are themed to reflect the theme; aptly named after potions and spells. A good selection of shots is also available. Prices are fairly average, you are paying for the theme and venue, so you won’t find any brilliant deals on drinks here, but in my eyes the venu and atmosphere more than make up for it. The pub caters to the goth and rocker crowd, so it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but the atmosphere is fairly relaxed and I have always felt at home in here. It can get real busy in here at times, so you may have to wait a while to be served, but there is plenty of things to occupy your mind, with classic rock and metal anthems being blasted out as well along to screenings of horror films.

I guess this falls right into the category of a theme pub/bar and the theme of this is something like a mad scientists experiment chamber. It gives a dark spooky feel to the interior and makes you feel like Frankenstein will pop round the corner at any minute. OK thats over doing it somewhat, but I am just trying to give you the idea. Now a tip for this place is that if you go to the toilet downstairs the door is located in the ‘bookshelf’. Yeah I know you think you would spot it without that advice, but believe me it took me a while the first time round! It is never particularly busy in here, which is a reflection that after the initial novelty wore off when it opened this place doesnt quite keep you interested enough to make you want to stay.

this is a really gothic place and if you don’t fit in you really feel it by the way others look at you, if you can get over that it’s certainly a different drinking experiance oh and i challenge you to find the toilets !

Part of the Eerie Pub Company chain, the pit and pendulum is easily recognisable as it has two flaming torch brackets above the entrace. The interior is very Gothic including horror-themed decorations and furnishings. The toilets are hidden behind a false bookcase, the loos creak and a weird voice talks to you sometimes which can be quite disconcerting. Down the stair well(The Pit) hangs a huge pendulum or axe. it tends to be frequented by Goths and people who like roleplay and games. The spookiness is about right and not too silly. Drinks prices are about average, and the bar features a special range of cocktails: the seven deadly sins, which are well worth trying. The majority of the music played is rock/metal/Goth but conversation is possible. Can be very packed at weekends. They do meals but not tried them.
