We recently heard about this place through a friend and thought it was worth a visit. We really enjoy our beers and often visit Beer Ritz in Headingley. The Curious Hop is new to Otley and I felt like it was at home. Great selection of beers from around the world, plus a whole selection from Yorkshire — excellent! The prices seem worked our fairly as they are quite odd denominations(ie £2.74), and the owner is really knowledgeable about his stock, and has clearly opened this business up out of an appreciation for great beers. We bought quite a selection; some old favourites like Jaipur and Brooklyn Brown Ales, but also some good recommendations too such as a Mauri Brewing IPA and a Beavertown smoked stout which was really tasty. The inside is really well done out with lots of trinkets to look at, beers are clearly labelled and priced and their signage and bags are really cool. We have been thinking of experimenting with making some home brew and the owner had some really good advice, including a supplier which happens to be really local to us in Kirkstall! Can’t fault this place. Still in it’s early stages and can’t wait to see it develop. We will definitely be back!
