I was looking for a good meal in Bristol. This is one of the best Indian food I have had. The service is good and the food? Well you have to taste it to experience it. I am definitely will be back whenever I visit Bristol again. The Salmon Tika for appetizer followed Masala Gosht Tak-a-Tak. Definitely the best lamb Masala.

Probably the best Indian food in Oxford. I’ve been to most Indian restaurants in Oxford and the food, service and setting is the best here. If you have a Taste Card you can get 50% off all dishes which makes it a wonderful deal. My wife and I have tried a lot of dishes and every one has been great. The service is quick and cheerful, can’t fault it.

The atmosphere was good; presentation of the meal very nice and the food was good value. I was a little under impressed with the cost of the yogurt-based lassi drinks. Hence the 4 rating. A very simply made non-alcoholic drink costing £3.90 a go strikes me as a bit excessive. other than that I think it’s well situated and a good place to take business colleagues visiting the city.

This place was very fine. The service was great — really friendly and fast. The food was not much above average. I had the chicken bemissal, which was highly praised on the menu, but a little underwhelming. The chicken tikka, tikka masala and korma were all fine. Would definitely come here again.

Great fresh food and attentive service with drinks. Pricing was quite good especially for the beer. Since I never rank a place 5 stars unless I become a regular to know of the businesses’s consistency, this place would be a 4 plus for a first visit. From the appetizers, entrees with the curries, naan bread to desserts they flowed in order.

#543 Park End is a bit of a walk from the Marston area in Oxford, but 4500 Miles from Delhi totally makes it worth it. The storefront is unassuming next to Las Iguanas, but just keep your eyes peeled for their 4500 sign. The service here is entirely unexpected. Sure, the interior décor is upscale and swanky, but Oxford restaurants haven’t made an impression on me when it comes to table service. But, the staff of 4500 is absolutely on top of their game. All of the servers are smartly dressed according to a black and white palette, with ties and vests proving attention to detail. They speak softly yet reassuringly and pay close attention to the timing of dishes and plate removal. Throughout the course of our dinner, we all felt relaxed and well taken care of. Once you first sit down, poppadoms are quickly brought to your table after request and cost £1.25 per person. They come with four different selections of chutneys, only one of which I truly enjoyed. Not to say that the other three weren’t interesting and might tantalize your taste buds, I just simply enjoyed the spicy chutney the most. After requesting water, the staff actually brought out an entire pitcher of ice cold water with lemon slices. How nice! We were then each given an Old Fashioned glass to fill to our heart’s content. After scanning their drinks menu, we also realized how affordable their drinks were. So, I went with a Scotch Whiskey on the rocks, which cost a mere £2.50. As for the food, the boyfriend and I went with a Salmon Tikka(£6.95) for a starter, while I chose the Saag Paneer(£6.45) for my main and he went with the Lamb Mughlai(£9.95). I also got a side order of Chili and Cheese Naan(£3.45) because, seriously, CHILI and CHEESE naan. I had never even seen anything like it on an Indian restaurant menu before! Unfortunately, the salmon tikka didn’t turn out to be amazing. It was fine, fatty, and grilled nicely, but it was so meaty it tasted like chicken to this vegetarian. The boyfriend enjoyed it more, but I took three bites and stopped. The salad was a nice reprieve, though, and it was interestingly topped with two slices of strawberry. The paneer and naan, thankfully, made up for my distaste of the salmon tikka. The saag was thick and creamy, while the paneer was cut up into thick and chunky pieces. The serving size was impressive and I could barely finish half of it. I even doled out two large spoonfuls to the boyfriend and we still ended up with leftovers. We did, however, finish all of the naan which was savory and delicious. More Indian restaurants need to steer away from the typical options and throw in a chili and cheese naan option. All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at 4500 MIles from Delhi. If it were closer, I could see myself dropping by more often, especially for their buffet lunch(£7.95 for AYCE?!). As it goes, however, it’s going to have to take some serious effort on my part to make it here at least another time before I leave.

This is probably the only genuine Indian restaurant in Oxford, and you really taste the difference. The food is good and tasty, and they don’t serve you cheap stuff. The best time to go is for lunch, because they offer an incredible bargain: lunch buffet(all you can eat) for only 7.95. That’s a fantastic deal, given both the quality & diversity of the food and the venue. The interior is nice and comfortable, very modern and — most important — clean. The toilets too are very clean and all in all, this is a very good restaurant to dine in.

Best Indian in Oxford and surrounding area. Wide variety of mostly northern Indian regional dishes. Quality is very good overall, if a bit bland for my tastes. Have been here many times and the food is consistently good and the service quite fine.

I had heard some good things about this place and checked it out here too. Perhaps I was expecting too much because it was compared in these reviews favorably to other curry houses in Oxford, and around the Cowley Road it has some pretty stiff competition. Sadly the comparison doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. We were in on a Saturday evening and the place was packed, which was promising, and i was prepared to make allowances for the slow service. However it doesn’t explain beer prices that are not on the menu — neither draught options(Fosters!!!) or larger bottles of Indian beers were mentioned, and we had to ask 2 waiters to find out the price. The poppadoms came with much smaller than average sauces and — shock — no lime pickle. We didn’t have starters an the main courses were good, but not outstanding, partiuclarly for Oxford, which has a wealth of great Bangladeshi restaurants, and even a cracking Nepalese these days. The prices were distinctly upper end, but to be fair you expect to pay a little more to go out in town, and judging by the large parties in, this did seem a place where larger groups of people meet up. And we finished up with an extra £5 bottle of beer on the final bill, which was immediately removed when pointed out, but we had only had 8 bottles in total, so it was disappointing to see it on there. In summary 4500 Miles from Delhi is not bad, but it is also 3 miles from the Cowley Road, which is where Oxford’s finest curries can still be found.

Ended up here for a Christmas dinner! I had to try the curried turkey with cranberry. The waiter explained with a wink that it was a very old traditional Indian dish. Well anyway it tasted fine to me… but after that much beer maybe anything would. The restaurant was very busy, but the service was still good. This place is a little off the beaten track being on the railway station in an area more renowned for its bars and clubs, so I’m glad it is busy… it deserves to survive.

A cut above the other curry houses in Oxford, this has much more of a restaurant air to it. Th interior design is modern and minimal. The staff are friendly and attentive but not intrusive, which is a godsend having experienced many other curry places where the staff are keen for you to leave as soon as the last fork is put down. Prices are more expensive than the average, but it is reflected in the food. You can expect to pay about 9 pounds for a curry dish, not including the rice. The menu is varied and has a good vegetarian selection. Not somewhere to eat every week, but more for a special occasion. I will hopefully be returning very soon.

Delicious — Indian food in the UK is just such a better dining experience than it is in the States or continental Europe(on average). And they don’t dumb down the spice level like they do everywhere else. Came here for dinner — with Naan, rice, two curries, and two desserts, it came to around 32 pounds. Good food, nice venue, and great service(friendly staff). I imagine that the buffet lunch is an amazing deal so I will be back for that someday. New Edit: This is an addition to my original review. I have been to this restaurant so many times the last year in Oxford, I think the wait staff knows my group of friends. This is easily the best indian restaurant in Oxford, and is even comparable(or better than) to indian restaurants in London. For students, they have a banquet deal that will stuff you full at a good price! Lunch buffet is good too!

Came here for buffet lunch today– all you can eat for £7.95. 6 different types of starters, 6 curries(3 veggies, yum!) unlimited pompadoms, rice and fresh naan(they bring it to the table!) — they were all pretty good. We had an extra order of the malai kofka, which is my favorite– it is so good, no other cheesy– Indian curry product anywhere quite compares. The staff are super duper friendly and now that they do take out; I feel that there is no other place I’d want to have curry in Oxford.

Amazing food and plenty of it. The tandoori grill platter melts in your mouth. It will become one of my regular Indian eateries.
