Really good place to come for food, no problems getting table, usually gets busy after 7pm. Staff very helpful & food really tasty, the Garlic Breaded Mushroom side dish is nice big size.

The pub is well decorated having recently undergone a refurbishment and is always clean and well presented. The staff here are friendly, helpful and polite. It has a nice beer garden with outdoor seating which is ideal on a summers night.

Nice new refurbishment makes the Hawthorn one of the better places to drink in Rhydyfelin. Conveniently located by a bus stop so theres no need to take the car. The beer garden is quite nice on a hot summers night(not that we get many of those in wales) worth dropping in for a drink if your passing. Friendly bar staff!

The Hawthorn Inn has recently been refurbished(again!) inside and out and offers a welcome alternative to social/rugby/labour/conservative clubs that dominate the village of Rhydyfelin. It’s nice inside, there’s a lovely beer garden out back, a bus stop right outside the front door, so good for getting there and getting home(BEWISE — DON’T DRINKANDDRIVE!) and overall it’s not bad. Locals were a bit put off when they raised the price of a pint, but I think it was worth it. If you live locally, it’s a niceplace to go. I wouldn’t suggest travelling to get there — but if you’re visiting friends or relatives and want a drink or some food, then defo give it a go.
