I’m a bit torn with this place to be honest. I love the idea of a nice tasty burger, but £8 for something that I would classify as slightly less fast-foody than fast food, is quite a bit. It was very busy when we got there, however we did not wait for our burgers too long — somewhere between 5 – 10 minutes. Fries we ordered were HUGE(as in the amount), and delicious. In fact, fries were my favourite part of the meal. Burgers were big and had two patties, but. Well. They looked slightly better than McDonalds ones. They were tasty, mind you, but for £8 I could get better for sure. The drinks are of the infinite refills type, which is pretty cool, as well as the fact that there is SOMANYCHOICES you can get lost in it. Definitely fun. There is quite a lot of tables, however the time we were there almost all of them were taken, so we had to wait a bit to be able to sit down. So in the end — loved the fries. Burger was A-OK. We will probably go there again, but won’t do that too often due to the prices.

Whether you think it’s overpriced or not, the fact is the burgers are really nice and the service is quick. If you just want to pop in and get something to eat then it’s great! This location is a bit bigger than some of the others but at the same time it is usually swarming with people. The queue is always really small but the general cleanliness is not as good as the other branches.

I was totally not expecting something like Five Guys at Reading and when I walked by and saw it, I was so excited! Although the prices are not your normal American prices, but food is just as good! the burger tastes exactly how i remembered — delicious! The view is also great in foodcourt like space as it’s on the third level next to the riverside. My chief complaint is the wait. For some reason they make the patties in batches so if you order towards the beginning of the batch, it’s a pretty long wait. Otherwise, i’m super glad this was was there!

I’ve been meaning to try Five Guys for a while, and today was my lucky day. Well, kinda. There were four burger options on the menu, with a load of salad and sauce you can include for«free». I say«free» because at £8 for the burger I can’t help but feel that I’m already paying for them. You order, then wait and watch as your burger creation makes it’s way through the busy open plan kitchen area then you collect when they shout out your number. It was a fairly quick process, maybe 5 minutes or so before we were clutching burger goodness in our hands. As burgers go it was above average, the cajun fries were pretty good too. It’s a cut above what you would get from McDonalds et al but given the price you would expect it to be. I’d say it was more akin to the sort of offerings you might find in GBK. All told my food was pretty damn tasty, so why only 3 stars? It was just too expensive for what we got. 1 large burger, 1 small burger, 2 small fries and a drink was £21.50. I could have a pub meal for that money and as nice as it was it was still just a quick bite to eat on the hoof. Decent enough, but it failed to topple Dirty Burger as the best burger experience in the world, both in terms of taste and value, would probably give it a miss next time.

Meant to do this review a month ago… I love this place! Unpretentious, simple and tasty. Whilst it may not be the prettiest, but then neither are Burger King and McDonalds, but it certainly is the best on flavour and quality. Their soda machine is something to behold also. Don’t go here expecting restaurant presentation and atmosphere, it’s a loud, fast-paced burger joint that let’s flavour do the talking.

I was really craving a burger tonight and had passed by the Five Guys at the Oracle a few times and thought I’d try it out. I’ve had it a few times in the states and have always enjoyed it so I was looking forward to a similar experience at the Reading location. I walked up to the counter and the lady who took my order was very friendly. I’m picky about what goes on my burger and she got everything right. I sat at the bar stools which overlook the river and shops/restaurants below, nice view and great for people-watching. Here’s where the experience started to go downhill a bit. The lady behind the counter mentioned that they would call my number once my food was ready, but the music was blasting so I couldn’t hear them. One of the six or so staff members standing around idly could have easily walked it over to me(there were about 10 other people in the restaurant and I was the only one without food so pretty obvious it was mine). I can kind of overlook this though, guess it’s half my fault for not paying more attention. By the time I finally walked over and got my meal, it was a bit lukewarm. The portion sizes are good, I got the«little» burger and«little» fries and both were pretty hefty. The burger was really tasty, had no issues with it, same as I remembered. The fries were pretty limp, which was disappointing. My whole meal came out to £10(drink included). Overall I was satisfied, but probably wouldn’t come back to dine in with the annoyingly loud music. Good burger though, I might get just the burger(hold the fries) to-go in the future.

This place is on the top floor of inside the oracle just near House of Fraser. The crowd of people made me think it was great but I am really not impressed with this place especially since i came in with high expectations. I’ve heard that five guys was good while I was in the states but never had the chance to try them out. I did have In N Out burger often(which this place is very similar to in terms of style and serving and the limited menu which consists of burgers, cheeseburgers and bacon burgers) The difference here mainly is that you can add on a bunch of different toppings like grilled mushroom etc-(I’ll post the menu) and that they have sandwiches and no delicious shakes or root beer. So I ordered and was excited about having my burger stuffed with deliciously grilled mushroom and onion, lettuce, pickles and tomato. I got the small sized burger which is essentially the same size but with a single meat patty. If I didn’t ask I would have assumed they were kid size burgers. However, I was pretty disappointed with the result(photo posted) The tomato was green-which is a personal pet peeve. I need my tomatoes to be always be a rich red. There were only a few scraps of lettuce and the mushrooms lacked the meaty and grilled goodness that they should have. I wish the onions were cut thinner and caramelised properly too. They also don’t ask how you would like your meat(mine was medium well from what I could see) however the meat was probably the only tasty part of the burger so I almost wished I ordered it without the bread which you can do. The bun really wasn’t special and didn’t taste fresh. Okay-so the chips were nice. They also post where they got their potatoes from on a board every day. They are big and chunky and you get a lot but was it worth 2.75? Not sure. There was a bit too much salt for my taste and I like them slightly crispier which these are bit on the soft side. I need to try the new shake shack in covent garden to compare how this place holds up but I have a feeling it will be much much nicer. If you’re looking for a good burger in reading you’re probably better off going somewhere else outside of reading since I don’t know a place here with excellent burgers yet. Maybe if byron burger opens up or gourmet burger co. Although the one I wish will open here is Stacked burger which I had while I was in the states. The most delicious burgers Ive ever had. You can build your own burger on ipads on your seat and the variety is amazing. I miss it more now! So yah– you can get much nicer meals for the price(7.50 for one patty hamburger and little fries without a drink)
