extraordinary long wait for main course. My chicken arrived only after i promoted and it was not so flame grilled as the menu suggested. Very pale looking chicken. When I complained waitress went on like it was no big deal.

Went yesterday for the second time and glad i did, was a big nandos fan but have changed my mind the chicken has more flavour and is moist, service from austin was fantastic. Thanks see you again.

My friends and I had met after work for a couple of Friday drinks nearby at the Allied Arms and found our decent food choices limited at 10pm. Having been here a number of times for cocktails, I dragged them in and gave the menu a try.
The food here is wholly underrated. Between us we ordered the beef and chicken skewers (both with sweet potato fries) and the picanha steak (curly fries). The curly fries were judged to be supermarket variety, but otherwise each of our meals were exceptional. The meat was tender and super tasty and when coupled with the «happy hour» mango collins cocktails (really sweet but still nice), we all agreed we’ll definitely be coming back for more.
Really nice to find a chain location with friendly staff, delicious food, nice drinks and open past 10pm. A rarity in a place like Reading.

I’ve been there couple of times. I think it was great. love the atmosphere, the décor. The drink were nice especially the cocktails and the food were delicious. Chicken wings were my fav!

Had a really good meal here. A word from the wise, it’s a good idea to book, even midweek as it gets busy in here. Expect to wait half an hour or so if you arrive peak time unannounced.
They have happy hour all day Sunday to Wednesday and Thursday to Saturday 16:00−1900 and 22:00 onwards. At happy hour cocktails are buy one get one free.
Décor inside was nice, varied seating options are scattered through the interior and the place has a modern vibe.
Cocktail menu has lots of options from different places around the globe, some Brazilian inspired, some Cuban, some other places I don’t remember. I’m not a huge fan of a cocktail but I appreciated the variety on offer and that it wasn’t all the same old same old you would find everywhere, with a few exceptions.
The food menu was pretty good too, has a few vegetarian options in addition to the meat offerings so there is some choice for everyone. Food was decent, price was fair and the service was really good. Our waiter was attentive without being obtrusive and when we stepped out for a couple of minutes he noticed and made a point of acknowledging us and letting us know he would hold our food for us until we were back.
One of the better restaurants along the Riverside, in fact probably my favourite. I’ll definitely be back.

Good place! Cocktails are a bit heavy on the pocket and if you catch it at happy hour you’ll do well! Nice atmosphere and clean and tidy everytime. Staff are usually quick to acknowledge you and although the bar does get busy they do well it getting you served quickly. All in all I’d say its a good place to stop in for a few drinks on a night out!

The Hot Chili sauce on the table has a nice flavor and leaves a nice tingle on your tongue. Chicken fajita salad is very yum.
Go for happy hour when its BOGO drinks! eeek! (on select drinks)

Great atmosphere, tasty and reasonably priced food, excellent service and yummy cocktails!

Have had dinner here multiple times and I have never been let down. Best nachos I have had in the UK so far.

We had dinner here. We ordered the chili con carne, nachos, duck taquitos, and something with lamb (quesadillas perhaps?). The chili con carne was fabulous and the nachos were quite tasty. I can’t say we were over the moon about either of the other 2 starters, but they were ok. We also had the cheesecake, which was quite nice, although it could have been a bit less sweet.
The music is great and I really like the atmosphere. The service was quite good as well. Great location, in the city center. I would definitely go back here again.

I think Las Iguanas could be the best ‘high street’ restuarant in Reading. We’ve been four times now in the last few months. Each time, EVERYTHING has been superb.
The décor stands out, with dark wood, green plastics and orange details dappled with Brazilian (I presume) bits and bobs. Everything seems quite new at the moment (Spring 2010). New and clean. All immaculate. A pleasure to be seated.
They’ve always greeted us warmly. Last Friday, we walked in 15 minutes before they opened, and they welcomed us, and said we could sit at the bar with a drink.
We had our baby boy in his pram, and they were flexible in letting us choose the best-​suited table, and helpful in bringing a (nice clean) high chair.
We’ve been looked after by the friendliest, zestiest, brightest waitresses all four times. Other diners are happy, and the place fills up at lunchtimes. But they do seem to cleverly clump families with childen together, giving couples a little distance from other people’s kids.
Food. Their lunch offer set menu is superb value, with a main and starter for £8. Top quailty and full-​sized portions too. At other times, we’ve chosen from the fascinating full menu, and I mean to try their more unusual dishes soon.
On Friday, I started with Lamp Empanada (neatly presented) and then had the duck & caramelised onion enchiladas. Their chicken burritos are nicer still (another visit). Desserts are incredible, if (like at every other place these days) too small for my gluttonous liking. Their mango & passionfruit cheesecake is my favourite so far.
Yes, you can tell that this place is consistently good. We’ve found it to be brilliant on four visits now, and I have no doubt it will be brilliant next time too.

Sans grande conviction, je me suis rendu avec mon cheri pour explorer cet endroit. Tout d’abord par depis, il n y avait rien d’autre a tenter dans Reading a part ces interminables chaînés de nourriture.
Grande surprise, l’endroit est tres acceuillant malgre la promiscuite des tables et le manqué de confort (les filles devraient prendre le petit crochet de chaise pour y pendre le sac et le reste sinon galere de tout retrouver par terre…).
Nous avions pris un assortiments d’entrees en tout, pleins de Gambas gigantesques, pour les amateurs de fruits de mer, vous né serez pas du tout decus par le gout de cette recette, un must try !
Un cremeux de champignon tres succulent, des calamars frits et encore des gambas qui pour encore me redire etaient parfaites.
Une proprete irreprochable pour la cuisine, pour moi c’est important de voir d’ou ces assietes arrivent avant d’aller dans mon pallet; le service est tres bon, on ressent meme une certaine empathie humaine de se mettre a la place du client pour une veritable appreciation du passgae dans cet endroit sud-​americain au menu tres varie et tentant.
J’allais oublie les boissons. Alors, un choix assez interressant de cocktails avec une liqueur mélange a du champagen que nous avions risqué; verdict: tres fort !
Bilan: Je reviendrai cela est certain. Certains plat me restent en tete et j’aimerai les tenter prochainement.
Dommage pour l’inconfort des tables et le manqué d’espace.

I went to Las Iguanas last night and had some food. It was very nice as far as food goes. And I had some drinks too which were also nice. It was very busy and the chefs and waitresses were rushed off their feet and I thought ooh I bet they’re tired by the end of the night. I had a good chat with my friends and they also thought the food was nice. When we finished our meal, put our coats on and left. There was also a very nice smokey cheese and mushroom sauce as I recall.

Las Iguanas is one of my favourite places to eat although we usually go to the Oxford branch in which the service is terrible.
100% better experience in the Reading branch. it was packed so we had to wait for a table but the Mojitos kept me busy for that time.

Arrived early evening drawn in by décor and Latin music. Couldn’t get a close look at a menu outside which I originally thought a bit stupid, but later revised my opinion as I was curious and had to go in to see. Latin décor all a bit cartoon but some nice touches such as variety of seating styles. My son had the Argentinian Beef Burger which he loved, my wife had a Chimichanga in refried beans, tasted as good as it looked. I had a dish called Xim Xim, lime chicken served in in a peanut sauce with roasted plantains, wow! I eat out a lot and can truly say this was nearly one of the most original dishes that I’ve had in a local restaurant and certainly better than all other chain operated places! Two for one cocktails top value, well made drinks and presented well, service fautless. Meal price for 3, £55 but this included 4 cocktails and two soft drinks, well worth a go, especialy if you like to cha cha cha!
