well worth the ride, gets you away from the crowds, the views are very good, you can follow the logging road or for those who fancy it up through the forest and on the top of ridge, beware coming down as people working in forest and some tracks dug up or churn up by tractors, In all worth the effort.

LADYBOWERDAM is the huge volume of water that burries Ashupton Village located ten miles to the West of Sheffield. This huge dam was built towards the end of World War 2 to supply drinking water for Sheffield and other nearby towns and villages. To the West of Lady Bower Dam you can see, on a clear day, the high windswept plateur of Kinder Scout, the highest point in the Dark Peak area of the Peak District National Park, North Derbyshire. To the North of Lady Bower Dam lies Derwent Dam, this dam is World Famous because it was here that the movie film«The Dambusters» was filmed. To the South of Lady Bower Dam you can easily see the high peaks of Losehill and Winhill, so called because many centries ago two battles took place here, on Losehill the battle was lost and on Winhill the battle was won. Lady Bower Dam and the area around the dam is truly beautiful no matter what time of year it is. Over two million tourists visit Lady Bower Dam each year throughout British Summer Time alone. There’s walking and cycling tracks around the dam, unfortunately camping is not allowed. However, there is adequet campsites and Youth Hostels to be found within easy car driving distance of the dam. I recommend if you’ve never visited LadyBower Dam do so next time you’re in the nearby City of Sheffield. I assure you you’ll be really pleased you visited the dam.
