I stayed at the Psalter for one night and was quite glad I wasn’t staying longer. There aren’t many accommodation options in this part of outer Sheffield and overall it isn’t a bad pub hotel. It is clean, at least, although I spent a decent amount of time playing«What is that mark on the wall?» I stayed in a single room with a single bed and no door on the bathroom. I understand that a door is unnecessary when no one else is in the room with you, however it still seems odd. The bed was comfortable and thankfully I went to bed quite late and got up early so I didn’t have to listen to people walking up and down the stairs that were located right outside my door. The biggest problem with the room was the shower. Despite having a wide ranging temperature gauge, the water that came out of the tap was either boiling hot or freezing cold. And to say that water came out of the tap is a big call — it was like standing in a very light drizzle. Plus the shower curtain was covered in mould spots and clearly hadn’t been cleaned or replaced in some time. The pub itself is reasonable although it has loud televisions showing sport all day. I had to listen/watch the F1 racing while eating my breakfast — not really my preferable way to wake up. The night before, I had a few drinks in the bar with some friends and it was your average range of drinks at average prices. Nothing amazing but nothing to complain about either. It isn’t the worst place I have ever stayed and if they fixed the showers it would be a-okay. But I wouldn’t rush back in a hurry.

The Psalter is a chain pub which sells a decent range of drinks, incuding a few real ales and standard pub grub at a decent price. The pub is actually quite large but split in to several areas on a number of levels. There are several TV screens and one big screen that shows all of the main sporting events, but I find that due to the layout of the pub it can be difficult to see a screen, especially if you don’t get there early. There is also a lack of atmosphere due to this. Whilst there is nothing in particular that is bad about this pub, I consider it to be very average and not worth making a trip out especially to visit.

Good, chain pub in good location. A very male dominated environment thanks to the showings of football and rugby. Food is standard pub grub but very nice and reasonably priced. The Psalter also offers rooms, my family stayed in one — was rather small but clean and tidy
