The Coriander Lounge in Southampton is pleasant. The staff are attentive, without being overly-so, and the food is acceptable. We went for a mid-week lunch and it was very quiet. If it had been the weekend or evening we would have been concerned, but I’d read some good reviews and so we ordered. We love Indian food and it’s always nice to try a range of dishes when trying out a new place, so we both went for the thali. We ordered two different ones and the reason that I am only giving three stars is because every dish tasted and looked the same! It wasn’t unpleasant, it was just strange that everything had the same sauce. One of the thali dishes has prawns in it, and I’m pretty sure this isn’t stated on the menu. I’m allergic but I noticed before it was an issue. Just something worth noting. The staff were welcoming and the food didn’t take too long to arrive, the popadoms and chutneys were also nice. Perfectly nice for a lunch time meal.

As close to excellent curry as one can find in Southampton. Having recently moved to the city I’ve been on a quest to find a good Indian restaurant, and as it transpires I have on practically on my doorstep. The Coriander Lounge is a big, open dining room busy with the bustle of staff and the air rich with spice and chatter. Which is good, because the door staff are terribly organised so that first impression may have to last a while. I can only speak from experiences with the take out service, but actually getting an order placed(even if you come in knowing what you want) can take up to ten minutes. That’s not ten minutes of waiting for others ahead of you, that’s ten minutes of waiting for anyone to notice you, and then again to have them remember to take the order. Likewise pick up is equally poorly managed, and from what I’ve seen of guests arriving they too are often left waiting 10 minutes. So with all of that out of the way, the food is good, a little thick for my liking(almost mealy, needs some oil and tomatoes to thin it a little) but that’s only an issue with certain dishes, the Chot Potia is excellent as it is for example. So in summary, good food, bad manager.

As delicious as it was, the service was far too slow. We had a group but nothing too sophisticated that would warrant such a hold up. Lovely and convenient spot but a bit crowded later on. Nothing else special to comment on.

Omg! This place is amazing! Great service and décor, very nice and relaxing. The food was absolutely delicious. We had a few appetizers and the main courses. Kebab platter was great! Recommend if you are in Southampton.

On holiday in the UK, we were craving some Indian when our friends took us to Coriander Lounge. The décor was very modern yet warm. It does get pretty noisy in there, but the food definitely makes up for it! The food was excellent… I have never had Indian presented in such an upscale and innovative way. Everything was very fresh and flavourful. I highly recommend this place for a lovely night out.

A must for any Curry Lover. 4 very experienced people had enough of being bullied at the restaurant across the road and decided to smash the opposition. Very well decorated inside with decent music in the background. All the waiters serve you and keep a close eye on your table at all times. The food is the most important thing here– Well the menu is vast. I had a standard onion bargee and it was no way standard, amazing. Shared 3 different main dishes with my friends and each one was amazing. Very polite staff. I will be going back. Both my friends are also experianced curry lovers and we all agreed this place was on the top of the list.
