It’s not a place I would normally go, but hen do duty called. The pub itself is nothing out of the ordinary as you would expect from any chain. It is in good spot though, right in the marina, with doors that open wide on to outside and a beautiful view. But, tbh, that’s about where it stops for me. The clientele are not up my street, personally. One woman made such a face as I walked in that I had to give her a bit of a dressing down. Yachties with their high and mighty, I’m better than you, deck shoe attitude. The rest is very Ben Sherman shirts and too much make up — men and women respectively, otherwise that might have been a bit more interesting. The Bartender was a bit useless and served quite a few other people in front of me who had arrived at the bar after me. In the end I had to pick her up on it as I’d been waiting about 15 minutes when it wasn’t even that busy. Not impressed at the service, all quite sullen and in talking to my friends, they’d all experienced the same poor service. The hat cocktail was pretty fun, but an expensive novelty at £25. Other people ordered food, but we were informed there was a 45min — 1hour wait and we were moving on else where, so there seemed little point. All in all. Nothing more than a townie chain pub, redeemed only by it’s location for which I reward all of the stars purely to.

We paid a little visit to this place for a birthday party last week, there was 16 of us for drinks and eventually we sat down and had some food. It’s a really nice setting down on the marina front and on a nice day you could sit outside and enjoy some sunshine. Has a really relaxed feel about it with a mix of stools and sofas. The drinks were a little bit pricey but we didn’t mind too much as the cocktails we drank were really nice. The food was a much better price and everyone was more than happy with their meal. Great service and very polite staff. Proved a great place to warm us up for the eveing ahead.

Although basic food menu(I mean I could just cook myself as an alternative), the venue can host competently a very good pre /social drinks atmosphere. The staff make this place what it is and are friendly and outgoing.

I discovered the Pitcher and Piano in Southampton recently and I am pleased that I stumbled across it, as its a little gem of a place down by the marina. The view is lovely and well worth the walk to get there. The food is what you’d expect for a bar chain, there is a wide variety of the usual choices on the menu and the food was of a good quality for pub grub and despite the restaurant being busy, we didn’t have to wait long for our food to arrive. The prices for mains started from around £9 and I thought the menu was all fairly priced. They also have a wide range of wines and cocktails and a large bar area. The drinks(some might say) are a little on the pricey side, but I thought the price was reflective of the quality and as the atmosphere(ans setting) was so much nicer than places that offer cheap drinks and drink deals, I really didn’t really mind. Its worth a visit.

The Pitcher and Piano is situated in a very nice location, overlooking the Ocean Village marina, in the summer, or on sunny days, the view is quite beautiful. The food was of a respectable standard(averaging around 9 pounds for a main course). Unfortunately the wait for our food after ordering was incredibly long, even for desert we were waiting for around 20 minutes.

Ate there on a Saturday evening as part of a group of friends. In hindsight this is possibly not going to be a good time to receive the chefs full attention or experience a pleasant atmosphere. So I guess our fault for booking the time to eat there. I appreciate that the food was what trading standards would consider ‘as discribed’ on the menu. So there was nothing which could be actively taken up in the restaurant with the management(not that you could have made yourself heard in there anyway) Portion size was poor, one of our group had 12 chips(counted) with her ‘Fish & Chips’. I wont continue about the quality — but lets say that a Wetherspoons can make better food. Enough said I feel.

I didn’t even know this place existed until very recently when I went to leaving party there for someone I worked with. There is a pay and display car park next to the building but I’m not sure I’d have found it if I hadn’t had someone in the car that knew where to go. I have to admit that I don’t normally like places like this. I’d rather sit in a proper pub than one these trendy looking places with fake leather tub chairs, etc but this is actually a very nice place that manages not to go too over the top with the trendy thing. The staff were very pleasant and the food was good but there was quite a wait a due to a problem in the kitchens. It was alos nice that it wasn’t really busy but then, I was in early evening so maybe it’s busier at night. I’d definitely go back again.

Pitcher & Piano is located in the popular area of Ocean Village. The bar is fitted out to a high standard which give the place a relaxed atmosphere where you can drink while watching the boats in the marina bobbing up and down. There is also some outside seating by the waters edge with heaters so you can enjoy the setting at all times of the year. The quality and selection of food is very good and while it’s not cheap it is still good value for money. For a more relaxing meal, part of the bar is set out as a more formal restaurant. Drinks aren’t cheap but the nice setting is definately worth paying a bit more for.

This is a swanky little secret tucked away in the boat lined marina of Ocean Village. In the daytime it’s a quiet place to sit and look out over the marina and the hundreds of boats. The night time turns into a busy Mecca for the well dressed and attracts a slightly more mature crowd. The menu is light, varied and well presented. It is a beautiful building with high ceilings and very light and airy feel with modern décor. Would recommend here as a good starting venue with friends for a night time out and some cocktails at the bar. Be aware you may spend more then you bargained on!

The Pitcher and piano is one of two bars/restaurants that are situated in the marina in the Ocean Village complex. This place is magnificent to look at from the outside and has stunning views accross the marina during the day. At night the place comes alive and is a popular place for everyone to either relax in the bar area or have a sit down meal. But also during the day, there are lots of office based clientel who attend the Pitcher and piano for their dailly lunch. The service and food is of a high standard and reflects how good this place really is!
