This was my local before i moved to Glasgow. Been coming to this pub for years! I used to come with my family every sunday for sunday lunch, and every christmas day without fail!(i still make the journey down to do this!)
Theres 3 parts to the pub the long room which is mainly for the families and meals, then theres the middle part which is more for meals and and people having a quiet drink. Then there is the end bar bit which is where i would go, you get a mixed crowd in this bit from the men who have finished work to the younger people coming here before a nightout and the people watching footy!
I miss it and wish i could find a nice cosy pub like this in Glasgow :’)

A very historic pub with centuries of history attached and surrounding in ‘oldy worldy’ Churchtown. This is your classic working mans pub. Rough and ready but relaxed with no pretences. Your reaction will either be ‘this needs doing up’ or relief that it hasn’t succumbed to the trendy chain fad.

Our favourite for a local ‘meal and a beer’. An old Coaching Inn, in an old fishing village, a couple of miles from Southport town centre.
Lots of restaurant space, away from the hubub of the bar. A pretty decent steak or fish and chips for just £2.95 or the ‘normal chain-​pub’ type main menu at reasonable prices. We’ve had the’£2.95 specials’ as well as the main menu, and everything is good.
As usual these days, lots of choice for lager-​drinkers, but they also have several ‘Cask’ Bitters and a Mild for the more discerning beer drinker (!)

An excellent real pub in Churchtown. In a lovely quiet residential area in the suburbs of Southport. Food, drink, local atmosphere. Area is steeped in history and this is reflected in the tudor-​style houses and drinking establishments. Quiet area and much preferable to the town centre — if you want a laid back English pub atmosphere of course.
