I was very excited because of the signs in the wondow for fluten free dining options. And I really appreciated how many options there were, but the food was wrong, and not great. Cute place though. But not going back.

Went on an afternoon tea binge while in Stratford-Upon-Avon. This particular Bensons was the first of many … and I’m conflicted. The service here is poor, the interior is boring and sterile, and the entire shop was abandoned. As a tourist, I prefer an aire of whimsy and at least a slight bit of happiness while enjoying my tea. You won’t find that here. The overall ambiance of the experience conflicted with the purely delicious food. The scones were the best I’ve experienced in Shakespeare-land, soft and buttery. The cream and jam were fresh and wonderful. The lox and cucumber sandwiches were soft and delectable. Overall, I devoured the food. Not to mention that their English Breakfast blend with brown sugar cubes was superb. But alas, even with a 10% off coupon, I couldn’t see myself coming here again. Instead, just outside and across from Shakespeare’s birthplace, you can enjoy a pretty good afternoon tea at several places with much lovelier table settings, décor, and service.

They serve Earl Grey green tea here, and it’s amazing. It’s one part the Earl you know and love, but mellowed out with a lovely green filter that really works when you’re in the mood for something light and refreshing. Sadly, they also have poor service that’s comically slow for a place with a dozen tables spread across what amounts to a large living room.

Absolute BEST Cream Tea I’ve had yet! Walk into thIs quaint little shop & am warmly greeted. The menu looks really good & to tempt me further, there’s a large case of pastries w/tarts galore But my heart is set on the Cream Tea. Listen to your heart! HUGE, fluffy but flaky scone comes out w/dishes of clotted cream & strawberry jam. It’s so soft & biscuity w/a hint of sweetness & hidden delicious plump raisins. Wish I had had 10 of them but 1 was the perfect size to fill me up. Add the Stratford upon Avon special tea blend & it’s the perfect afternoon enjoying the home of Shakespeare
