Great little coffee shop. Sausage roll was absolutely delicious. Staff always friendly

We chose this place as a stop off on the way from Guildford to the Lake District, as an excuse to do a flying trip through Stratford Upon Avon, based on Unilocal reviews. We were not disappointed! The coffee is great — never going to be disappointed with Monmouth beans — beautifully decorated inside, feels charming and independent, the red wine and garlic sausage rolls are incredible! Very happy to hear John Coltrane and Miles Davis ripping away in the background. First sign of good taste… Highly recommended — plus location is awesome as all the Shakespeare birthplace stuff is on the same street almost opposite.

Really nice independent coffee shop. Coffee is of a high standard and the atmosphere is calm and chilled. Food is all homemade or close to. Absolutely no problems with any of the visit. Staff helpful and prices resasonable.

Having read excellent reviews about this place, it seemed the ideal place to grab a coffee whilst mooching around Stratford-upon-Avon on a Saturday afternoon. The coffee house is located in the northern part of the town, just up from Shakespere’s old gaff, so it’s just out of the way enough to prevent it being mobbed, but close enough that it’s not too much of a jaunt. Inside is standard modern independent coffee house, all white walls and wood. It’s a little cramped inside, resulting in a bit of shuffling past other customers at times. There a a fair few seats but unfortunately we just missed a table after some confusion with the staff. As for the coffee, I can confirm it’s of excellent quality, and one of the group commented that the decaf was also fantastic. The cakes and nibbles looked fantastic, and although I personally didn’t try it, the sausage roll was apparently superb. Stratford isn’t short of places to grab a coffee, but stepping away from the crowded touristy tea rooms and chain outlets, as usual, results in the best quality!

Brunch options are limited but top quality(toast/porridge/granola etc) but the amazing white flat coffees, great music choices and friendly staff make this a must-visit place. For warmer days, they also have a nice outdoor terrace.

A great coffee and cake stop! True espresso coffee where even the decaf bean is top quality! If you’re in town or nearby, do yourself a favor and drop in for a real coffee!

Came all the way to Stratford-upon-Avon and ended up with Monmouth coffee, which I could have gotten in London… but what can you do. At least it’s consistently good. Box Brownie is a very cute little café right next to Shakespeare’s birthplace, yet it’s not filled to the brim with tourists.(Perhaps they instead stopped at the nearest Starbucks instead, after doing the hop-on-hop-off bus guided tour of the ‘authentic’ Renaissance village.) Didn’t stay here for long — just popped in for a quick caffeine fix(an Americano) and went on my way. They only carry semi-skimmed milk and a tiny little pot of sugar(from which the barista added a spoonful into my drink, herself… at least she asked me how much I wanted), so not a lot of choices in that regard, but no matter. Since it’s Monmouth beans they were using, I knew what I was getting — a creamy, smooth, and flavourful cuppa Joe. Yum. It provided the perfect little jolt that I needed before seeing a four hour play on a five hour night’s sleep. The pastries(including the eponymous brownies!) looked delicious in their display cases, albeit a little pricy at £3−5 a pop, but I’ll have to go back to try them. A really great coffee spot with a quintessential small-town vibe. Most memorable of the visit was that we were greeted with a smile and an enthusiastic ‘hello’ from each of the three staff members in the shop that day. Though the coffee was from London, the kindness was all Stratford.

On a spontaneous weird moment, I felt like coffee whilst passing this quaint café. What grabbed my attention were the fantastic reviews about the coffee(handwritten in chalk on their window) which convinced me to call them on it(and I rarely drink coffee!). That’s right! I’m a dare devil! I just had to know if the reviews were true! So I headed inside with high expectations and ready to blow this joint if these reviews were false… Well slap me silly and call me Sarah Jessica Parker! I was instantly hooked! The Monmouth espresso they use were just the perfect blend of bitter and creamy! Suddenly we were back nearly every single day for 2 months straight! Ummm … Highly recommended! TIP: Just to boost their ratings, they have free wifi but you’ll need to ask for the code! You’ll be pleased the signal is quite good! And say hi to Ben & Rob, the two baristas, who are the nicest chaps in town!

Charming coffee shop on the pedestrian-only street of Stratford. They do beautiful foam art(leaves and hearts etched into the lattes and mochas) and the brownies were rich and soft. Not a lot of seating, which is a bit annoying, as you will want to linger. Coffee is of good quality and quite strong — they’ll bring the drinks to your table. Baristas were extremely pleasant and friendly. Definitely stop here instead of the usual Costa/Starbucks!

Easily the best coffee shop in Stratford-upon-Avon! They use Monmouth espresso — some of the finest beans from jolly London — and serve up truly phenomenal lattes and mochas. I’d argue the baristas here are even more skilled than those at the Monmouth at the Borough Market in London. I’ve been several times and can’t seem to get enough. It’ll take a few minutes for your drink, but it’s absolutely worth the wait. As if that weren’t enough, they actually make some pretty delicious sandwiches as well. I had a free-range chicken with lemon mayo that was something special, and my better half had an equally tasty egg and watercress. It seems that Box Brownie can do no wrong!
