The Woodman

Netter Pub mit einer so vielversprechenden Speisekarte, dass man sich schwer entscheiden kann und bereits Pläné schmiedet, mehrfach ins Woodman zu gehen, um alles probieren zu können.
Darauf folgt dann aber die Ernüchterung. Beim Chicken Burger war das Hünchen zu trocken, das medium rare bestellte Angus Steak wurde well done geliefert und die beiden pies lösten auch keine Freundentänze aus. Der Nachtisch (crumble of the day) war ok, die dazu gereichte Vanillesoße war definitiv nicht selbst gemacht sondern kam aus der Tüte. Der Service war freundlich aber man hätte häufiger nachfragen können, ob man z.B. noch Getränke nachbestellen möchte.
Geringe Wiederholungsgefahr.

Disappointing visit. Booked table wasn’t ready for nearly 20 minutes after we arrived. Both of our first choice of main meals were unavailable. I’m not at all fussy but the duck wings starter were so tough and flavourless that I left three quarters of them on the plate untouched yet the waitress didn’t seem to notice when she cleared the plates. And to finish off — there was a rather unpleasant short, curly black hair on the saucer the bill came on. Being as we have a young child we don’t get out together a lot and the whole experience left me feeling like it was a waste of an evening. We won’t be rushing back here.

This place looks lovely from the outside and always seems to be busy. We thought we would give it a try but were a bit disappointed.
When we sat down we had to move tables as the one we were shown to was so wobbly it was nearly falling over and the table we moved to was very dirty and sticky and we had to ask them to wipe it which didnt help much. The drinks took ages to come and when the food came we had to ask for more cutlery and werent offered any sauces etc. The restaurant part was definitely in need of a very good clean but the redeeming feature was that the service was very good although i felt sorry as the staff seemed to be running around to get everyone served. The food iteself was nice as was the wine recommended by our watier. overall i dont think we will be heading back in a hurry which is a shame

Very hit and miss and the bar staff are extremely slow. The change of management has improved it a lot and they do a cracking Stella! The menu is varied and their Sunday roasts ain’t bad.

Yes, I certainly agreee with a lot of the comments here about «The Woodman «staff, who seem to be running round like headless chickens. I know there has been a change of management recently, for the worse in my opinion, and we stopped going there after being over charged on a few ocassions, and really it seems that you pays your money and takes your chance here, as I do NOT think you will be guaranteed good service, or nice food either, come to that, as another reviewer stated «I won’t be going back»…and neither will we …

Something seriously wrong at the woodman! Took nearly 2 hours to get the set menu (3 courses for £9.99) and then only to be told we couldn’t finish with the desert we ordered as it was still frozen and we only popped in for a quick bite to eat! Table behind us complaining bitterly and an engagement party never got some of their courses and the staff tried to blame them, saying they never ordered them, will not go back, was going to exchange some Tesco vouchers, so glad we tried it first!!!

We visit The Woodman regularly for evening meals and its always enjoyable !
The staff are friendly and helpful, the restaurant itself is charming and cosy with plenty of little tables to enjoy a lovely meal or just a drink.
There is also a nice view of Swansea Bay if you sit in the front part of the restaurant.
The meals are a little over priced compared to somewhere like The Harvester, but well worth it as they taste much nicer and have some individual specials on offer that you wouldnt get in a big chain restaurant.
Try the moroccan lamb burger with sweet potato chips, my favourite and gorgeous!

Over priced. Nice atmosphere. Would go with a two for one voucher. Used to do real chips. Stopped that now.

We enjoy coming to the Woodman when in Mumbles. There is always an enormous range of food on offer, and it’s consistently good. But because it’s so popular, although we have always found somewhere to sit, we are often required to wait anything between 30 minutes to an hour for our food which might take you by surprise if you popped in after a long day’s hillwalking. It’s a genteel kind of place.

The Woodman is my hometown local. It’s gone through a few makeovers and now it is a biggish, successful pub restaurant perched on Mumbles Road looking out over Swansea Bay.
In the winter (which is when I mostly patronise this place around Christmas time) it emits a wonderfully cosy air with big roaring fires and comfy chairs.
There’s a pretty good choice of wines and the staff are usually friendly and helpful.
The food is very nice, above average pub grub. More of your gastro-​pub fare with fancy versions of regular dishes. It is a bit more expensive than average though, I wouldn’t know how expensive as I’ve always made my dad pay.
