After hearing good things about Smokey’s from work colleagues recently, I took the opportunity to go for meal there with some relatives that were visiting Brighton for the weekend. What can I say other than it was brilliant! ! The staff were friendly and welcoming, and very knowledgable of the menu. I thought the price was as good as, if not better than similar restaurants — we all went for the burger with 2 sides(we had mac ‘n’ cheese and sweet potato chips — divine!) — at 8.95 it was similar to what you would pay at pub for the same thing, but the portions were absolutely huge and the taste was delicious! We also added pulled pork to our burgers for an extra pound, It was so, so tasty and we were given a generous amount! at the end of our meal we were given 10% off for our next visit. We enjoyed it SO much we went again 2 days later and forgot our vouchers, but the member of staff remembered us and gave us 10% off anyway which we though was a lovely gesture. We are yet to try the platter, which doesn’t look like it’s for the faint-hearted, a couple sitting nearby had the smaller of the platters available and it was huge! Even though the portions are generous, they certainly don’t compromise on quality. I really hope that this place does well, as it has been one of the best meals I’ve had out in Brighton. I would recommend it to any meat lover! Would have loved to have tried the desserts as they looked delicious, but we were too stuffed to move after such a big meal

Oh my god, so much meat. But don’t go here on your low-carb diet, because this is classic American style smoked meats and BBQ which means these delicious marinades are heavy on delicious molassas and sugary goodness, and most everything is served with some fries and cole slaw that I’m sure has some impressive nutritional stats to rival the pork ribs. With my partner, the two of us had the largest sharing platter of smoked meats that Smokeys offers. If you’ve ever had this platter, you’re now probably making a «oh the humanity» face but hey, how were we to know?! Last time we ordered a shared cooked meat platter at a Brighton restaurant I left hungry after consuming more than half of my share! Anyway, the beef brisket alone was probably 12 ounces, and we haven’t even talked about the pork ribs(oh my god so amazing), or the pulled pork(my partner’s favourite), or the wings… geez I think I’m drooling. We also upgraded the fries to sweet potato fries for about a pound, totally the right call. I mostly ignored the cole slaw, because I’m just not a mayonnaise fan, but if you are you’ll love it! Anyway, somehow we finished everything except the beef brisket, which was then partitioned into three meals when I got home… which means I probably ate about 6 meals worth of meat that day. And oh, what a glorious day it was. The only drawbacks are that it’s difficult to find(it’s next to the hotel, across the road from the ongoing Marina construction, and kind of recessed into a lower ground cave…) and that it actually is a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. I’ll be back — especially after a 20+ mile hike or a 5+ mile run hahaha.

If you love meat, this maybe the best place in town. From pulled pork to brisket, to fajitas and chicken, it’s got it all. Also great if you live sweet potato fries. These are great. Their homemade BBQ sauce is amazing too. Great location, you can eat on the decking whilst overlooking the sea and enjoying the sunshine.

Walking along the Kings Rd with the family, when we stumbled across this lively, friendly little American restaurant. We were all mad hungry, so it was on either way. Had a few problems getting a table for 4, but the wife used her persuasion and we got a table. We waited for a while but never got offered a menu, all in all the service I think had a lot to be desired. The food now is a hole different ball game. It was wicked. Loved it loved it. My boy was just like, there is just so much meat, I don’t no what to have. He copied me, and had the beef brisket with chips and coleslaw. Hand on heart, I have never had beef that taste soooo good. The portions are huge. Two people could get full up off one plate. Tasty and flavorfull. The beef just fell apart. The onion rings were to die for too. Going by what the plates looked like at the end, I think the fam enjoyed there’s too. Their was a constant Hume of voices, but a nice vibe grabing mouth fills between snippets of conversation. I ate so much I rolled out the doors… Oh yes, rolled, but happy. It’s defo a place to go and try. Will go again. Staff are really friendly can’t fault them I don’t think there are enough of them service was slow seeing everyone get their food before us was torture!!! They knocked 10/off the bill without asking. Great night.
