Been a regular for years but it’s been rapidly changing over past two weeks due to new management. New menu is very condensed offering none of the previous favourites. Price has risen too, with starters now the same as previous mains! Food well presented but tasted awful! When I asked if the previous menu was being served(as there was a stack by the till), told yes, to Asian customers only! Will never go back. Such a shame and loss for park street due to greedy new owner!

Excellent Noodle bar in central Bristol: it’s usually attended by various non caucasian people which is usually a good sign that the place has high standards and it’s not a tourist trap.(at least i hope so). I’ve ordered japanese noodles with tonkatsu(friend pork cutlet) and it was great! The stock in particular was delicious and not too salty a perfect complement. As a starter i’ve ordered vegetarian spring rolls: they are small(5) but tasty! There’s a bottomless refill of soda, which is probably ideal for university students but i’m trying to stay healthy and ordered tap water instead. The service was fast and very corteous: pay attention that in order to pay with card the bill must be at least 5GBP and several plates cost less than that amount!

I love noodles — I just love ‘em! I drive passed Toro on the bus most days and I’ve been wanting to try it for ages, so I made an effort to head there for lunch yesterday. Firstly, the venue itself is good. Nothing striking, nothing fancy, just a decent restaurant with a nice open window at the front where you can people watch. I sat down and was handed a menu. I instantly noticed the I was the only white caucasian customer, which is generally(I find) a good sign of authenticity. The waiter came back a couple of minutes later to take my order. I wanted the Japanese Style Beef on Fried Ramen but asked if they could add some bean sprouts. I was told quite firmly ‘no’. But I ordered it anyway because it came with vegetables. The dish was really tasty, if not a little too salty. But it was a soy sauce dish, so you have to expect it to be salty. I really enjoyed it! I finished and within a couple of minutes my dish had been taken and I ordered the bill. Paid. Left. All done within about 20⁄25 minutes. I was on a lunch break so this was perfect for me. I can’t really fault Toro. There’s no Wow factor to it, but it’s good at what it does and i’d certainly go back.
