Got take-away small fish & chips, today’s special – cod. Fish was excellent, freshly cooked before my eyes, crispy, savory, light and tasty, but still very satisfying. Chips were nothing to write home about, a little soggy and undersalted. £4 – very affordable.

We visited the restaurant part of Mr Chippy and were quite impressed.
It was very clean and pleasant and you could smell the cooking wafting through from the kitchen. They also offered a few alternatives to fish and chips including a chilli chicken salad which was nicely presented, even though the waitress didn’t really know what the salad contained.
Prices for food were ok but a small (330ml) drink of coke was £2 which I found far too expensive.
I couldn’t compare it to any other chippies in York but it easily beats many of York’s other restaurants.
