Capt. Alvin Fishing Charters

We came into port on Celebrity Summit the morning of February 5^th. When we were planning our shore excursions for the cruise, I found Captain Alvin’s website online and made a reservation for a 4 hour inshore trip. We are both avid fishermen and based our decision to go with Captain Alvin on his experience, familiarity with the St Thomas waters and the beautifully equipped 37 foot Calypso. As soon as we ported my phone received service and an email was awaiting me with instructions. We called Captain Alvin to let him know we had made port and he said he was catching bait, but he would be at our designated meeting spot conveniently located steps away from the cruise ship dock at our scheduled 8AM departure time. As we were walking up, Captain Alvin was tied down, waiting and ready. We boarded and Captain Alvin gave us a quick safety briefing and we were off. We traveled to what we assume is one of Captain Alvin’s favorite fishing holes minutes away, a small island surrounded by a reef. The water was crystal clear blue. We did not have to visit any other fishing holes on this day, as this location DID NOT disappoint in any way whatsoever. Over the next 3 hours and 45 minutes we were constantly catching fish, made possible by Captain Alvin’s expert angling. On this day we caught at least 24 Houndfish (we lost count), 3 Snappers, 1 Jack Fish, 1 Mackerel; furthermore, we hooked onto a shark and a Barracuda! Captain Alvin is THE MAN. We highly recommend him because of his expertise and patience. Also, he’s the world’s fastest rigger because we must have gone through 50 hooks and leaders. Overall, it was one of our best fishing experiences to date. Bear in mind, you may not always catch fish, but if they’re biting Captain Alvin will find and slay them. He is now our «Go To» guide in St Thomas

Captain Alvin knows what he is doing! Me and my husband went out on a half day and both caught two huge mahi! Had fresh bait already livewell when we got there. He then had us set up at Hook Line and Sinker which cooked the fish 5 different ways and was one of the best meals we had on the island.

I just returned from my trip to St Thomas and an inshore charter trip with Captain Alvin. We found Captain Alvin to be truly the best guide — once the fish start biting he lights up and gets everyone’s adrenaline running, while answering the many questions you might have about the species you’ve pulled on onboard. Everyone had a great day and it was great to see pictures from the day on the Facebook page after our trip. If you have the opportunity to get out fishing during a visit to St Thomas, I highly recommend Capt Alvin.
