Because of its location near the docks, the can get the freshest just caught fish. For dinner here we had some blue fun tuna that was swimming in the ocean just 4 hours before it was served on our plate in a tartar amuse bouche and then tuna takaki. The sweetbreads are a must have and they are so innovative to use paper thin shavings of green papaya as a paperdelle pasta substitute. Great scene of locals who have moved here from NYC, LA, Ohio, everywhere. Everyone is very knowledge and passionate about the food and wine served here. Truly an epicurean’s place to go!

Epernay continues to offer the most interesting food on the island and it remains my favorite place to eat. Two new chefs(Jeff and Bill?) have picked right up on the tradition of high quality, unusual ingredient combinations and plenty of «wow» tasting moments. The Mahi chowder and kale salads were excellent. While that sounds rather pedestrian, it was not; it was fantastic due to all the other ingredients which I can’t remember(fennel was one). The Mahi entrée and Israeli pasta were perfect. Finishing off with some sort of espresso-pistachio cookie/crème made it beyond perfect. I have no idea what that means but seriously, it was beyond perfection. While the food is the main draw here, I will also give shout-outs to Nichole and Hillary who worked the bar and room like seasoned pros. Their friendly approach to serving food and drinks made the evening a complete package. Even Mike the owner stopped to talk for a few minutes, describing his approach to the restaurant. Top notch food; great service; good prices and of course, the wine and bar choices will keep me coming back each time I visit St Thomas.

As an annual visitor to St Thomas, we’re always looking to try some place new. We had a very nice dinner at Epernay this week. The service was fantastic. The waitress made some great suggestions and was really sweet. The food was phenomenal. We got the beet salad, with whipped feta and coffee soil, a very unique and delicious way to prepare beets! I had the duck breast special, which was perfectly cooked and had a delicious sauce and sweet mini cherries. We also ordered the special fish which was mahi, also cooked perfectly with a delicious(but sort of thin runny) butter wine sauce. For dessert, the deconstructed cheese cake was sooooo good. Overall, I love the food and service here. Only 4 stars because the prices are so expensive for the portion sizes. I would have loved to order more, everything on the menu looked amazing, including more apps I wanted, but $ 15-$ 20 per app is too much plus $ 35ish a dinner plate. So, don’t go super hungry unless you have a lot of money to spend! But overall fantastic food & service.

Okay. This is amazing. It’s a cozy restaurant located in frenchtown with a truly outstanding, creative menu that is honestly pretty fearless. We started with the mussels and foie gras. The mussels were served with a generous portion of fresh warm country bread and were nestled in a delicious broth of onions, tomatoes, chorizo, and aromatics. Honestly some of the best mussels I’ve ever had! Then we had some pan seared foie gras served with cranberries on a little bed of polenta. Fantastic. Then for our main course we split the meatloaf. This isn’t will Ferrells moms meatloaf. It was spiced. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable, so personable, and gave us amazing wine recommendations. Epernay, without a doubt, is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I will say I’ve dined at Alinea and Eleven Madison park in the past, I can say that this meal is definitely in those leagues.

Who knew that a food mecca was hiding in St. Thomas’ Frenchtown? The food at Epernay Wine and Champagne Bar is so unique and delicious! Our family ordered two of the small plates as appetizers to share with the table. The Foie Gras with pulled honey, piquillo jam, and bee pollen and the Lemon Oil Roasted Asparagus with a poached egg, truffled vinaigrette, Parmesan foam and coppa were innovative and delicious, but extremely expensive. $ 40 seems a little extreme to spend on two appetizers that were not very filling. I’d suggest sticking with the entrees and skipping the small plates if you want to avoid breaking the bank! The portions of the small plates made me a little nervous that the large plates would not be very large so I decided to order the Kobe Burger in hopes of receiving a more heartier portion. I was not disappointed! The burger was not your typical«burger and fries». The restaurant made a playful dish with the kobe burger that included boursin cheese, house made pickles and Spanish potatoes«fries» with the most incredible ketchup. This burger was the least expensive entrée at $ 26, but you could turn the dish into the most expensive dish on the menu. For an additional $ 25 you could have the chef serve your burger with a seared piece of foie gras and a glass of champagne! If you are looking for a impressive dinner that will leave you in gastronomic ecstasy I highly recommend dining at Espernay Wine and Champagne Bar.

Great place to eat, a definite must if visiting St. Thomas. I love that they are open late. The menu is not too extensive but they have something for everyone, great quality ingredients. Great wine menu.

Had to send my meal back twice and the waitress had a bad attitude. Undercooked lamb, snippy waitress not the place to go. There are far better restaurants on St Thomas. We are long term residents and have enjoyed this restaurant in the past but I think they are going downhill. I brought friends for their first time and we all agreed the meal was not worth the price.

This is hand down the BEST meal you will have on island. The ambiance, service, drinks, and food are all 5-star. From the classic cocktails, over the top creations from the kitchen, and decadent dessert options, this place is sure to not disappoint.

Last night we had an amazing treat! The chef, Oleg prepared a spectacular tasting with fresh Italian Black Truffles. The meal ended with a flourless chocolate cake with a thin slice of a fried black truffle. The whole meal was so creative & full of incredible favors. This is the the best restaurant on island.

This is quite possibly the best spot for fine dining in St. Thomas! Located in Frenchtown, and surrounded by local bars, delis and the marina, there is ample people watching on the patio. The owner is incredibly helpful and really knows his bourbons. They have a classy cocktail menu with choices other than rum punch. While they don’t stick to the traditional caribbean fare, the ingredients are noticeably local — and delicious! I had the fish special for the evening… I only remember that it was delicious and was topped with crispy duck tongues… and I had the blueberry donut holes for dessert. totally wonderfully delicious. Definitely check this place out for a little upscale eating in paradise.

My wife and I did a culinary tour of St. Thomas. We dined at Thirteen, The Old Stone Farmhouse, Havana Blue, and Twisted Cork. Epernay blew them all away. It was the best damn meal I’ve had in a long time. All I have to say is get the Kobe Burger. I was expecting a typical gourmet burger, but this thing was taken to a completely new elevated level. I’ve never experienced complexity of flavor and texture. I’ve dined in San Fran, Chicago, and NY and some of the best burger places, and nothing rivals it. I’d go beyond to say that it was not even a burger, it was a chef composed entrée of kobe beef that happen to be served similar to a burger. Beautiful presentation and amazing flavors. My wife’s fish special was equally as amazing.

Terrific meal. Great service from Kayla. Good drinks and wine list. Good attitude too. Go! It’s not cheap but the quality and overall experience well worth it. Expect some creativity in the dishes and presentation… Like the mahi served with glass noodles and kimchi. Beet salad great. And can’t miss with a Kobe burger if you want simpler. Good stop in Frenchtown.

Everything was fabulous. So much so that the next day my mom woke up saying«omg that dinner was so good». We had to try the foie gras because of looking at the previous reviews and what a treat it was. Wish I knew how to pull honey. I had the monkfish special which was a really generous portion. The rest of the group had the escargot, mussels, leek soup special, mushroom risotto, sirloin and lamb. All the dishes were delicious. Unfortunately we were so full that we didn’t have time for desert. We also got there in time for happy hour cocktails(4−7pm). We will definitely be back, and don’t know why we didn’t come sooner.

This place is amazing. I typically don’t do many reviews on vacation but wow. Every bite was a serious treat, well balanced, and just all around awesome. To start we tried the watermelon cocktail(I think it was called the volcano) and the sazerac. I typically like really sweet drinks like cosmos and capirhanias, but even though this drink wasn’t super sweet it was light and refreshing. My husband has fallen in love with sazeracs ever since a trip to New Orleans and he swears the one at Epernays was one of the best he has ever tried. For apps we went a bit overboard… so much so that we didn’t make it to the main course! My favorites were the kale and chicken skin salad(seriously!), escargot, and fois gras. I’ve never had fois gras prepared like that and have no clue how they did it, but it was delish! We also had the mussels which were really yummy. Finishing touch was a chocolate cake with bitter cocoa and blackberry. The chocolate was incredibly rich,(which would typically only equate to a few bites) but even my husband who doesn’t eat dessert couldn’t get enough! All around an awesome place and I have a feeling we will be checking back in before our trip home

Menu selection was small but they executed well on the dishes they offered. Excellent service and enjoyed the ambiance. Prices were High generally speaking($ 16 asparagus??). Had the burger and enjoyed it — the fries were a work of art and were delicious.

My family was walking around Frenchtown and the owner was standing outside. He stopped us to ask if we knew the area and gave us a 2-minute rundown of the restaurants. Very cool. We walked around a bit more and came back to have dinner. Calamari and Leek soup to start — The Calamari was tender and really worked well with the chutney they serve instead of tomato based sauce. The Leek soup is served tableside(nice touch) and is creamy and not over powering. I moved on the Lamp Chops which were superb. The only complaint I have is the waitress didn’t try harder to talk me into a medium rare instead of medium. The only thing that stopped them from being perfect was completely my choice. My oldest son had a Kobe Burger. Big, juicy and tender. Hard to review a burger except to say it was perfect. My Wife and 8-year old both had Steaks Frittes(I love saying Frittes). Excellent. Perfectly cooked. Simply but perfectly seasoned Frittes. I’m embarrassing myself with all the gushing. :) We were having an early meal so I didn’t get to sample the excellent selections of scotch or bourbon, but next time might be different. Great place. Highly recommend.

Parking: they have a parking lot– pretty good sized one. and dont expect to see lines. if it looks like you can park, i say, park the car… Drinks: probably my favorite specialty cocktail place on the island — Fernando the bartender is always so damn smiley and he can fix mean drinks.(tip him well– he works hard for his money!!) Food: You will not fail with their mussels– broth is very delicious and most of the time, we end up drinking the broth. it’s just that good. their meat/cheese plate is always good– nothing crazy, just what you’d expect at a wine bar. Now the main course, I always suggest trying their daily special menu. Their normal menu is good but the chef does seem to have fun with the daily special and all of their beef dish is executed very well. As to overcooking the meat. stick with ordering one level below what you’d want– i.e. if you want med, ask for med rare. This was one of my first restaurant on the island and it set the bar high. I’ve gone back several times and it never disappoints. Good people, good vibe, good drinks, good food, what more can you ask for!

I wish there was a sixth star for places like this. Talk about quality this place has it all. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is personal, and the staff genuinely cares about your dining experience. The best way to be good at what you do is to love what you do. Anyone who meets Michael, the owner, will see that the restaurant is a reflection of his personality. He gave us free champagne on our anniversary and hung out with us on the dock as we waited for our cab. The food is great as well, the seafood is as fresh as you would expect in the Caribbean and wine selection is ample. I’ll be going back to Epernay my next time on the island to enjoy the food and service of an establishment that, to my knowledge, out does every other small eatery on the island.
