1. Get the fish tacos, ignore the price, they are worth it. Choose tuna if you want to splurge. 2. Get a gigantic margarita. I personally go for Mango. Enjoy island time and the people watching.

The service is excellent — waiter was engaging and funny. He had a quick wit and was really good with our children. The service is fast, too, which is not always the case on the islands. Ironically because of the name, the margarita was weak, which was disappointing. The food was good and plentiful. We had the Fajitas Grande for two. My girls could have split the nachos, which I wish had been suggested. We have been to MP a few times. We like this spot because there are only a few tables, so it’s a personal dining experience with the staff and even other patrons.

It’s okay but will go somewhere else next time. Service was good, but burrito was burnt and cook was only ok. Overpriced for what it is. But they do have margaritas to go

I know it’s the islands and things move slow, but this place was absurd on service. 20 minutes and two friendly reminders after ordering a simple basket of chips(which they want to charge $ 7.99 for despite it being nothing more than you getting for free at most places) — and there was still no sign of the chips. Food was mediocre at best — service problems mean you should steer clear altogether. Too many other good places on the island to waste time here. My kids for the first time ever, wanted to walk out.

This place is WAY overpriced for what it is. We got the large margaritas — I understand they were large but not a one of us could taste any alcohol, it merely was a slushie at $ 15 a pop. We also order bottled waters which were $ 3 each and the Naked Nachos at $ 13 which were okay but nothing to write home about. Our waitress share a bit too much about her personal life and made us a bit uncomfortable. We opted not to stay to eat lunch and took our«margaritas» to go and left.

Giant margaritas made with fresh juices… and let’s leave it at that. Phil’s serves traditional(nachos) and oddly altered(naked nachos? You mean, chips?) Tex-Mex entrees, influenced heavily by the catch of the day. Expect to pay the Tourist Tax, as the average burrito goes for $ 14 – 15, and a plate of three ahi tuna tacos costs a whopping $ 23. Unfortunately, the only memorable plate were the tri-color chips, and only because ‘Murrica. Average eats paired with fresh fishbowl margs put Phil’s in the middle of the pack — 2.5 with a tropicalia round up. Patio seating is a plus, even if the view leaves much to be desired.

Solid place! Have been eating here for several years and the service is friendly and attentive. Chef does an excellent job. We have the best tuna tacos and steak nachos. Normally we would not order steak when on the island s anywhere but chef can cook! Medium temp on the steak, tender and juicy! GREAT job! There is a special margarita they make but it is limited quantity and I am sorry I don’t want to share. You’ll figure it out if you ask some questions.(I hope not though more for us! Lol!

Consistently solid service and food on an island where it is quite difficult to procure all the right ingredients for Mexican food. We’ve been going for years and always found the service to be friendly and efficient and the drinks cold. I would caution them to watch their cleanliness and attention to details. Don’t let a good thing cause the management to become complacent. Pay attention to the food quality, liquor levels in the frozen drinks and cleanliness. Those three areas were a bit below what we’ve experienced from you in the past.

We loved the place. Stopped in for lunch with my wife while we were in St John. Our waiter was awesome. gave us a lot of suggestions and could not have been any nicer. The food was very good. The Margarita were outstanding. If your in Cruz Bay, stop in. I forget our waiters name, but heres a photo of him. Thanks for the great service.

Ate here last night –who thinks Mexican food when you are in the Islands but my husband wanted conch and they have it! He had conch enchiladas, and I had the grouper chalupa. Both were perfect. They had some basic options for the kids too. Service was great and our server does half the year here and half in Nantucket. Wonderful marg too!

I have been to Margarita Phil’s only a few times over the past 10 or so years. Usually it was for drinks and chips and salsa. Nothing terribly noteworthy here. I mean, if you’re going to be in the Virgin Islands, you probably should opt for the local fare at a place like Miss Lucy’s or something like that. I am a Mexican food junkie, so I was DYING for Mexican while we were away and we had one night with nothing wedding-related to do, so we opted to go in town for a little Mexican. They have gigantic margaritas — which I would not particularly recommend — Think hot«island» weather, ice cubes, drink mix. All this can mean is a watery margarita. And it’s huge. You’re stuck. The fish tacos aren’t a bargain. They’re good, but not a bargain. I opted for this volcanic looking dish with grouper in it. It was definitely tasty, but … we’re in the islands here, and I’m thinking that you can probably find some fish for a lot less — just a hunch. Chips and salsa were good. Prices were an insult. But when ya gotta have it, ya gotta have it!

I’m always skeptical eating at a Mexican restaurant named after an «Americano»(see Carlos O’Kelleys restaurants). Actually the food was pretty good. I particularly enjoyed the Ahi Tuna tacos. Prices were very high, even in Cruz Bay standards. The margaritas are not among the best I’ve ever had — –and neither are the Ahi Tuna tacos.

Not very impressive. Wouldn’t go again. Huge margaritas that contain minuscule traces of tequila at a big price. Food so so. One member of our party enjoyed his grouper enchilada… The other three of us were disappointed with our meals.

Illegal practices … This place served us alcoholic beverages after we requested ‘virgin’(no alcohol) margaritas. I brought my family here for dinner. My wife and I requested(NOALCOHOL) in our Margaritas. After drinking a third each and sharing with our small children, it was evident there was alcohol in these — a lot … When I questioned the waiter, he denied there was any alcohol in the drinks. Not happy about this at all…

Has to be the best Margarita’s on the island — bar none. The food is awesome, but sometimes pricey… but after one or even two margaritas… who cares! =) Highly recommend. It gets busy so get there early. Not sure if they take reservations… its a small restaurant.

We’ve been coming here for years and the food has always been wonderful! Yes, the prices are steep but that’s not unusual for St. John. We’ve paid $ 11.00 for a sandwich from a deli(no chips), so it’s par for the course. The conch fritters are great and the enchiladas are delicious. Portions are large so you’ll be leaving with enough for dinner another night. They do put a lot of cheese on the food but I find most places don’t add enough cheese. Relax and enjoy the drinks and learn how to be on «island time». I don’t mind waiting and I know that where ever we go on a small island, there’s always a chance of waiting. Take in the whole atmosphere, think about where you are and reeeelaaaaxxx!!! Have one of Phil’s strong drinks and go with it. Margarita Phil’s is one of our favorites on the island. I just don’t understand why so many give it a bad review.
