The coffee here is well priced(particularly with AUU membership upgrades) and quality. Fair trade is a plus. The food is fine. Expensive for on-campus, but a great selection of salads, breakfast, hot foods and sandwiches.

Grass Roots offers healthy food on campus. The salads are delicious and change daily so their menu doesn’t get boring. Their coffee can be a little hit and miss, but if you are an Adelaide Uni Union member you get a free upgrade(which makes it the cheapest coffee on campus). Although their menu is a little on the pricey side for students overall it is one of the better food vendors on campus.

I think I have spoken of the quinoa chickpea wrap. Awesome if you can get them to make one! They don’t charge extra for soy! The lady who makes my coffee most times does a great job. Worth going out of my way to get. Had some bad feedback from friends so I’ve knocked a star off. Otherwise, I like it.

Hooray! At last Adelaide Uni has somewhere to purchase edible and even delicious food. There is a real variety and choice of café style food at grassroots, you can have a hot dish like gnocchi, or baked veg, lasagne and arancini balls or a standard like a tasty baguette or wrap, a quiche or pie, sweet treats, salad and soup. The prices are pretty standard and the produce of a high quality. Contrary to what Jo says I believe the coffee here is actually some of the best available in the area. I really struggle to find a decent cuppa joe when I’m studying and although there is some difference between the different baristas they manage to produce the most decent and consistent coffee in the vicinity. I love that they do freshly squeezed juices too… great for brain power to help you get your study on!

The recently opened Hub Central on Adelaide Uni campus is a great place to study, meet and catch up, or just lie around on the fake grass covered blocks. Grass Roots is the first café to have opened up in here(there are more coming by the looks of surrounding walls) and is a great uni café, with plenty of healthy and filling food at student-friendly prices. They do a great range of fresh juices, smoothies, and non-dairy shakes. You can watch the fresh fruit going in and getting blended just for you. They have a simple range of cakes, but a greater range of salads, quiches, focaccias and savoury pastry. My favourite is the frittata, which they somehow make really tasty without the help of bacon or any meat. Their spinach and feta filo triangles are also great value for money. There’s a small range of hot food, mostly something like a croquette and then some sort of main meal, often a lasagna, but it changes. I steer clear of their hot food because when you see it sitting next to salads and focaccias it looks even more unhealthy. Their coffee isn’t amazing but it’s nice enough. It’s also the only coffee in the vicinity, so does a pretty roaring trade.
