Popped into Bad Apples Bar for breakfast today after sweating it out at an early morning bootcamp at Tompkin Park in Applecross. I had only ever thought of this place as a nice little spot for a few afternoon drinks, so I was pleasantly surprised when google informed me that this was one of the options for breakfast south of the river. The breakfast options were great — heaps of interesting menu options like french toast with peaches and nut crumble or zuchinni corn bread with poached eggs and grilled corn salsa; and buttermilk blueberry pancakes it was almost impossible to decide. I eventually settled on the pulled pork shoulder, salsa roja, goats cheese, black beans, fried egg and flatbread. I enjoyed almost every aspect of it — the fried egg was perfect(a seemingly difficult task sometimes!), the pulled pork and sauce was thick, juicy and rich and contrasted nicely with the tangy goats cheese — yum, yum, yum! The only downfall was the dry beans that sort of sat off to the side awkwardly — but easy enough to fix by mixing everything on the plate together. The staff were very friendly, checking on whether we were enjoying our meal without being intrusive. I would definitely head back here for brekkie if I found myself in the area again.

The food has definitely gone downhill. There are limited items on the menu and a lot of the food has lost its flavour. It’s quite disappointing as my friends and I have been there many times.

Some guy said that in everything there is portent for greatness. He had obviously visited Bad Apples in Ardross. This buzzy little joint has been around for a little while now and the Über and I have been here two or three times — mainly attracted by the tapas plates. It’s a location that has had many incarnations — coffee hub, café(twice) and now an open, breezy chic(k) hangout. It’s also one of the only joints I have ever seen with a push button wine dispensing cabinet thingy. More about that later. Wednesday night and the place has a nice hum happening but as soon as you stroll in its biggest flaw is right there — no service. So we stood and stood and stood some more then helped ourselves to a window seat. Hmm. After serving ourselves with the food\bevvie lists we waited and waited. You get the idea. Seriously there was less than twenty people in the place — staff included and it was ten minutes before a water bottle appeared. Luckily we had decided on what to order, lord knows we had enough time, so we did before she fluttered off. Whilst we waited on our San Martino Prosecco’s I wandered over to check out the wine wall thing. Fourteen bottles of wine lined up in a glass fronted cabinet looking like something on loan from the Smithsonian. Reds, whites, French, Spanish and lots of locals waiting to be sucked into your glass. Very strange. I didn’t see anyone using it during our stay so how long the wine is in the bottle is anyone’s guess. The food arrived and this is where the place has some great ideas. The Cauliflower and Red Quinoa salad($ 11) is out there and delicious. Teamed with a super Endive Salad($ 13) and Chorizo and Chickpeas($ 15) its great booze food. Washed down with a snappy glass of Kentia Albarino from Rias Biaxis in Spain($ 11) and it’s a very nice way to end the day. If they can import the imagination and precision of the kitchen to the front of house processes then Bad Apples will be a winner.

This place was awesome! We popped in here for breakfast. Great menu options, extremely tasty, great setup and easy enough to find. Meal was served fairly quickly, the staff were super nice and helpful. The food was hearty, filling and YUM! We will be going back here to try the dinner menu at some stage!

We love heading here on Monday nights — half price pizzas and a relaxed vibe. A brilliant way to start the week, with attentive service.

Ive been here a few times at various times of the day… Be mindful as to what time you get here, as they have blocks where the kitchen ‘closes’ for changover so the menu can be extremely limited(diappointing when wanting brekky/brunch on a weekend). The self service wine is a great concept, especially when waiting a loooong time for wait staff to attend to your table. Often a great atmosphere and a cosy set-up outside with big comfy cusion-chairs to lay/cross legs on :)

I think this place is just average. We’ve tried to come in q couple of times on a Friday and had no joy so we usually go across the road to C15. Today we popped in for a cocktail after lunch. We stood at the bar for a few minutes and then a lady said we could anywhere we pleased, we chose to sit inside. The air con was blaring and there was only one table of 3 inside and a couple of guys out the front having a drink. We perused the drinks menu(which is quite extensive with cocktails, wines, beers and spirits) and chose what we wanted. We waited. And waited. And waited some more. The bartender was busy(no idea what he was doing) and he had his back to us. The waitress had vanished. So we waited some more. We thought about just going to the bar to order after a few more minutes but then the waitress came back and took our orders. The drinks were amazing; I had the After 8 and my friend had the North slide. We both enjoyed our cocktails and were tempted to order another but didn’t as we both had to drive. The service was disappointing considering there was only one other table inside but he drinks were great :)

Really enjoy this venue, second time we’ve been here. The location is very accessible, a bit trendy but even us new parents seem to be able to enjoy ourselves with a few drinks. The price seems reasonable(no more than any where else you’ll get a drink in Perth). Friendly staff, and the food seems to be good. Looking forward coming back to try something different next time and maybe bring some friends.

The moment you walk in the staff are engaging, one of them greet you(no matter how busy the venue is). To order dinner and drinks you need a bar card — essentially it’s a tab — which is a good concept. The service is great — friendly, attentive and knowledgeable staff make the experience that much better. The menu is innovative with well thought out flavours. The wine list is perfectly matched to the foods on the menu with some cocktails for fun and bubbles for the people who’re celebrating etc. But the atmosphere was the charming part about Bad Apples. The design is modern yet comfortable, and interestingly«matches» the menus innovation :) I am definitely going to Bad Apples more often, and introducing it to my friends! I don’t know what’s taken me so long to go!

I loved the fit out and atmosphere at Bad Apples so much that I had to go back and try the food after not being able to on my first visit and I am so glad I did! The staff were great on both visits, very helpful and attentive. Service was quick and pleasant — no complaints! Which brings me to the food! It was definitely worth the return visit. The menu itself is fun and creative with some very different and quirky options. We ended up getting the mini Wagyu sliders and the Bad Apples tasting board and they were great! The sliders were tasty, full of flavour and juicy; and the tasting board had so many unique flavours that I loved exploring. And the drinks list is extensive — including cocktails, beer and wine. I did think the pricing was a liiiittle on the higher end but definitely worth it!

Went along last night after work, upon arriving we were offered seats either inside or out and told we should get a bar card for table service, so we did. Bar card is simply handing over your credit card for a tap2pay in house card system — works as a table number too. We say inside because outside had a rather strange but interesting set up. And it was cold. Unfortunately it wasn’t until we sat down that the staff elected to tell us we could only order pizza or chips from their huge menu because of a wine event going on in the next room. Had we known this before handing over the credit card and taking a seat we would have come back another time. Moving on from that negative start we decided to grab the chorizo pizza anyway with a drink and make the most of it. For what it was the pizza was good, but is not what either of is would usually order. We looked through the menu anyway as we do want to come try this place properly. The range is extensive and very interesting, this extends to both food and drink. The venue has a very nice setup that we both agreed made you feel like you were in freo or Perth or somewhere a little more lively than we were, which is good. Overall I have rated a little lower purely because I feel the experience was damaged by a simple event stopping normal meal service, compiled with the fact they didn’t let us know this before we had effectively committed to the place. I will definitely be going back and I’m confident when we try the actual range the rating will improve.

I came here for a quick glass of wine. I had no idea how«quick» it would be! The automated pour your own is genius. I can’t believe this is the first time I saw it. I sat outside under a covered tarp-area. The outside crowd appeared to be mainly couples and/or groups of girls meeting up. It was a day of a week though so perhaps the crowd gets more lively on the weekends? I’d definitely come back to get a better insight of the vibe and sample more of their wines!

Their pizza is the best! I recommend the 3 Chorizo or the mandarin duck! The sliders are good and so is the pork belly. Nice local spot and about time Riseley Square got a wine bar.

After dinner we thought we would grab a few drinks at the Bad Apples Bar and we were not the only ones with the same idea, there was a waiting line to get in! Bad Apples offers a lot of seating from tables in the alfresco area to an expansive couch and bar stools. The music was pure dance and it felt like we were in a club, I am not sure if that happens every Saturday night? The drinks menu is good and some interesting cocktail choices, many I have never tried before. Great champagne choices as well. If it is a special occasion the menu does have a few expensive champagne bottles to select from. The staff were very friendly. There were a mix of people around from the ‘over the top’ twenty somethings to the over 50’s enjoying a few glasses after dinner.

Bad Apples Bar is a welcomed addition to the suburb of Applecross/Ardross and I think they have nailed their positioning within this area for the locals both young and old. Having visited the bar on a few occasions it is time to write a review! The fit out is sleek,(love the lighting) with an alfresco area and plenty of seating inside as well. The menu has a great range of tapas or small eats with most priced around $ 14-$ 15 and pizzas $ 20 upwards. The pricing is on the expensive side but everything I have tried off the menu has been punchy in flavour. Love the pork belly pizza and the mussel and dill arancini balls. The cocktails are good and the enotech wine machine(self dispensing wine by the taste, half glass or full glass) also has my vote. They also make great coffee for those abstaining from alcohol. However I still feel at times that the service is not quite as slick as it should be. There always seems to be a long wait at the bar(busy or not), I’m never quite sure if it’s table service or not(which was compounded by the staff saying” We do do table service but if no one comes to you for a while then just come to the bar”…errrrrm might need to make your minds up on this one and either commit to table service or just have bar service and make it faster). Having said all this, I will be back. It’s a great little bar to hang out with friends.

I’ve been meaning to try out this new addition to Ardross for a while. The fit out is very sleek and modern and there’s quite a bit of seating both inside and out. I’m not 100% sure what the theme of the bar is, as their logo is pirate inspired, yet a feature wall has an old Hollywood image of a couple on it, perhaps from the 1940s. The clientele is pretty varied, you could be any age and feel pretty comfortable in this venue, which is great. They have a tapas style menu. The food was good and the potato wedges were really good, big chunky mothers of potato chips! I also tried the roasted mushroom and tomato topped with bocconcini which was not too bad either. They have a wide range of drinks available, and one of those novelty wine walls where you can use a card to full up your wine yourself. Oh also I thought $ 4 for a glasses of soda water was a bit steep!

Rotten Apples! Nah their pretty good actually. This cool new place has just entered the bar scene in Perth in the last month or so. Situated on the corner of Riseley Street and Kearns Crescent in Ardross this quaint unassuming little bar doesn’t fail to deliver. There is ample outdoor seating including some interested looking sofa lounges that you sit up on and also plenty of seating indoors. The place has decent A/C which was welcome as there was stifling heat outside. The décor inside is pretty cool and there is a few neat touches too. For a start when you are served water it is inside the same type of serving tool as what is normally I believe used to house/serve tequila. The next quirky and interesting thing is the wall of «self serve» wine along the back wall in the cabinets. You simply go up to the bar and get a bar card(leave your credit card behind the bar) and use said bar card in the machine to serve yourself from a selection of wine. The glasses are kept in reach above the cabinets. Something different for sure. It had me intrigued. We ended up trying out a few cocktails to start including the«special» that night. Apparently it is a different one each night but this one with a gin base was quiet impressive. The espresso martini and the Apple Crosseyed did not fail to impress either and were quiet decent. The SBS wine that we tried from the self service wine rack was not too bad either. Food wise the pricing is about average for bars in Perth and the food was pretty decent. The smoked salmon with capers, avocado and prawns was fairly impressive. As was the Pork Belly. For desert we tried a panna cotta and this was quiet delicious. All in all the atmosphere, music level and service were quiet good. The background music is loud enough to be heard but quiet enough so that people don’t start raising their voices over it. The service was quiet friendly and professional. I was just bemoaning the lack of decent bars in this area and low and behold along come this bad apple … or is it good apple? You be the judge.

First visit! Love that it is so close to the office. The menu has so many great things that I can’t wait to try and I love the fancy wine bottle system that they have. By the glass of some very choice drops. Delightful!
