We found this recently in Balmain and visited last night. We both immediately felt at home in this little venue. It starts to get busy towards 7:30pm, but earlier its pretty empty, which suited us. They have the same setup as Timbah in Glebe where the wines are opened and you can either order a glass from an open bottle, or a whole bottle fresh. The food is delish — small servings but very rich. Lovely wines on offer and a very extensive selection. We had the spiced almonds, chicken liver parfait(aerated pâté) and minced chorizo on bread, all were good. Finished off with ice cream sandwich — which was good, but felt pre-prepared(very hard ice cream). Understandable for such a small kitchen. Worth trying the venue out, lovely seating and quite quirky. Will be back.

This place is incredible and I am so glad it has arrived in Balmain. After all the discussion in the suburb finally a locals-focused & service-focused little wine bar has graced our streets… With a changing delicious menu and a changing wine list The Lodge offers a variety of tasty morsels. I had a tasty chilli, white wine & garlic NZ clam Spaghetti and Marscapone Pana Cotta… We felt satisfied and ready to take on the world! Look forward to seeing what else you guys have to offer.
