Only decent Asian restaurant in Indooroopilly. Prices are reasonable and the food is authentic Chinese. Not amazing but genuine. The pork ribs were good. The fish was fine. This does not rank well with the Asian restaurants of Sunnybank but it is very good for the food desert that is Indooroopilly.

I had takeaway food(wonton soup and fried rice) from here today and I was left with a few thoughts. First of all, the broth from the soup was virtually tasteless, which was disappointing as the wontons were delicious. The fried rice was inedible as the meat smelled foul — as if it was several days past its use by date… And its just now that I realized the same meat was in the wonton soup, too. Oh goody, I think i’m in for a treat in the next few days. The staff were polite when I came to pick up my food. I didn’t even need to ask for my order because the owner came out with everything ready to go; I simply paid and left. I am inclined to say that the prices were quite high for what I received, especially in the case of the fried rice. I wouldn’t visit here again.

Had my birthday dinner here recently with about 17 people attending. They made us feel very welcome and took their time explaining our options as we were a large group.

For me this is just your average chinese food place. Average price. Average food. Average service. This is not to say its bad. But its not fine dining either. I will continue to eat here out of convenience.

Don’t be mistaken, this isn’t the same one as the one on Moggill Road, but it may be owned by the same owner(this i’m not too sure). A lot of things tell me it isn’t though, things like… 1) Food comes out fast 2) Food tastes really nice 3) People are friendly These three things already make it a cut above the rest of all the other restaurants with the same name(namely the one on Moggill Road). The Shandong Crispy Chicken is a dish that I have had there many times… yes the crispy chicken still has some bones in it(you westerners out there) but it comes topped with deep fried shredded and sweetened Choy Sum(iron rich chinese vegetable) so it’s got that sweet and savoury taste. The dishes are a little bit better than the ‘specials’ they put on the board if you ask me. It’s never packed in here, and it is a bit of a time-out from the busy station road. Gets my vote anyday.

Sunfay may not look like much from the outside, but believe me, this is good Chinese food. I must admit, if it was not for the«Daily Lunch Specials» board they have at the front, I probably never would have discovered this place. I am now a die-hard fan of SunFay. The location of this place is a little awkward, it is in between an Op shop and a 7 – 11 and there is not much going in the front display apart from a really old looking menu and the specials board. Now onto that«specials board” — this place offers a large selection of meals for only $ 6.50 at lunch time! And these are not small serves either, they all include a serve of rice or fried rice(I always go for the fried rice). Not only that, but they are pretty tasty too! I really like their«Beef in Black bean Sauce», it is generous with the amount of beef and vegetables the give. The service is pretty quick too so if you are just after a quick cheap meal, this place is a very sensible option. This place just goes to show, a bad restaurant layout does not always mean bad food. Next time you are looking for a place to grab lunch in the area, consider SunFay.
