My party of 6 shared the Fantastic Four platter. Boy did the food take long. The buffalo wings were the unanimous favorites, and the ribs and pulled pork were good too. The beef brisket was unevenly cooked, with some of us getting really gorgeous tender bits, and some getting inedible tough bits. Their sides were alright too, despite the portions were smaller than expected from an American-inspired place. The platter wasn’t enough so we got a pizza(BBQ chicken), which was alright too. May come back for desserts. The waiters were really attentive and friendly — they were very accommodating when we asked for them to store a birthday cake for our friend to surprise her with later. Overall an above average place, be sure to use your entertainment book voucher if you have one.

Went to the curious squire, attempted to make a reservation 4 days prior and was told they only book a third of the restaurant out and the third they book is all outside with no heating, opted for that just to make sure but got in early to get a table inside only to find majority of the tables were reserved inside as well… All in all if we had not shown up when to doors opened we wouldn’t have had any success. Onto food… Well, made a huge mistake by ordering the margarita pizza, so you may ask something so simple how could they go wrong?! They stated basil on the pizza, no basil, no tomato, just so much cheese so so so so much cheese. This pizza had no flavour and I had ordered chilli on it and that didn’t even make it to the pizza. Zero flavour. The thing that most annoyed me was that the ‘cheese’ pizza was $ 24. Sorry but your atmosphere or service make was not good enough to justify a $ 24 pizza with no flavour and just cheese on it. I could go to dominos get a margarita with actual tomato on it and even a basil drizzle for $ 7.50! Someone on our table ordered a side of cornbread which was so dry it couldn’t be eaten. Another guest got a burger with crinkle cup chips that come on the side that were soggy and unappetising. Not a fan, I noticed most tables there left a lot of food behind and it didn’t appear to be because they had too much… I don’t want to be charged huge prices for terrible food just to cover your rent, not good enough, be proud of your food and want it to be good and you will get the people wanting to pay the price.

We were hosting some friends from Melbourne and staying with them in a Hotel in North Adelaide. We wanted to go somewhere for dinner that was comfort food and included lots of meat. Lots of meat was the only pre-requisite LOL. I came across this hotel Restaurant by its stellar reviews and lots of scrummy pics of their food. We were able to get a reservation quite quickly for a table of 4 and we sat down to peruse the menu We sat outside as it was a warm night, it was a little noisy but dark so it wasnt too intrusive. I ordered my favourite entrée, cheesy fries. Everyone had to help me eat them as the serving was so massive! For mains, my partner got a burger + chips, and our friends got a steak dish with mashed potatoes and the ribs. RIBS!!! Boy oh Boy the Ribs were massive but he managed to eat them all. I ordered a curious dish, it was mac and cheese with bacon and a massive onion ring on top Overall the food was delish, HUGE serving and the price point was perfect. if you are in the area don’t hesitate to head on over.

First time here on last Saturday night for a school reunion. Food is AMAZING! Having lived in the USA for three years, this was a great find in Adelaide. It’s got a vibrant, positive feel to it with friendly staff. Will definitely be back here for burgers & deep fried oreos!

i heard a a fair bit about this place so i had to go for a look myself with a few friends. the guy who served us was very polite and happy to chat. we got our menus sat down to read them. he came upto us and said there were specials not written down on the board yet, and boy am i glad he did cos the burger was fantastic. watching other peoples meals come out i was amazed on what they looked like and hearing the other people talk how good it was. what i really liked about this place, all the meals were brought out together so we all ate together. when leaving i actually stopped to read the board and noticed that kids eat free on a Thursday ?? night. prices are good for what you get. and omg! dont get me started on the dessert menu. the waiter brought out my dessert with a pile of napkins and said im gonna need these, and had a giggle. totally relaxed place to chill for a quiet drink or a big gathering

Ok I am open to the fact that we may have gone on an «off» day but my experience leaves me curious about why this place has gotten good recommendations. The pulled pork was extremely fatty, watery consistency, and bland. In a word — awful. My husband ordered the ribs. In three words — dry, tough, and Luke warm. Again, I don’t get the hype and hesitant to throw good money after bad… We will not rush back…

Now I know what all the fuss is about. Great American style food, great beer, friendly service and stunning atmosphere. We sat on the balcony on a warm evening and it was so nice. Perfect place to take your friends from out of town because it’s a bit different(quirky/hipster?). Have been dreaming about pulled pork quesadillas and macaroni cheese ever since.

The meaning of Squire as a verb is to ‘to accompany or escort(a woman)’. I would definitely be escorting people I wanted to impress to this venue. It’s like a pub. But posh modern and they have a(self proclaimed) groovy menu! If you are a beer fan, the big draw card here would be the amazing amount of different beers on tap. All the James Squire range of course. You could choose one. OR. you can buy a tasting paddle, which comes with 4 different beers which you can choose yourself, or you can let the staff choose for you(which I did with excellent results), then once you have been paddled you can go and choose your favourite(presumably) in schooner size. Excellent value and great if you are indecisive. The food here is gourmet pub food, pizzas, burgers, steaks, salads and some strange but delicious sounds combinations such as a mac & cheese sundae topped with pork rind. I ordered the veggie burger, which was delicious the patty was a really great veg patty with beetroot and some other veggies. it came with fries on the side in a mini deep fryer thing instead of a bowl. I always wonder if they actually use those mini fryers when cooking them. but any way not important. The chips were crunchy and seasoned well. Bonus was the trolley of condiments so I could take a whole bottle of Tomato sauce to the table and not feel bad about asking them to refill my mini sauce bowl numerous times(major first world problem). The atmosphere is nice here, pub vibes, without the crowding, well on this particular day anyhow. I would predict the crows game screenings and $ 1 chicken wing days would be slightly more crowded. Check it out, squire someone special here.

As a massive fan of James Squire beers this place would have to had been a dive for me not to like it, but luckily that wasn’t the case. It’s a cool enough space — a little«cosy» inside considering the popularity but still got a good vibe going on. Bar staff were cool, but not too cool, music wasn’t so loud to distract from convos. only main issue with the place was the fact that 95% of table were pre-booked out. Makes sense from a business perspective I guess but it also makes it not the kind of place you’d probably go too regularly on a whim when strolling past as it makes scoring a table a little hard work. Food was nice but far from warm, which was a pity, but the beers sure were beery so overall it was all ok by me.

A lovely spot for a bite and some tasty beers. On a bustling Saturday night it was hard to nab a table but eating at the bar was perfectly comfortable until one opened up. The chicken burger was tasty.

I loved, loved, loved this place. It’s super cool, friendly and delicious! Me and my partner started with a serve of buffalo wings to share, and they were amazing. The wings were succulent and crispy with an absolutely delish vinegar based sauce! We then moved onto the sliders, which were also incredible. I urge everyone to go there and smash some wings, yum.

On my never ending journey to taste the best ribs in Adelaide, we were directed to this particular establishment. We had tried to book a table by phone, but were told that they had already been booked out, but we could come in and wait for a free table. We took our chances and I swear it was not more than two minutes before we got a table. It was a share table but no biggie there. So we sat down and I ordered a beer called One Fifty Lashes. Very nice beer. I saw others with what looked like tasting platters of beer. Bit late to the party on that one but keep your eyes out if you go. We then decided to order something that would give us a good cross section of the menu. We ended up with Wings and Ribs and a Pulled Pork Burger with coleslaw. The ribs were nice, but were smoked similar to bacon. Again nothing that fell off the bone. Nice though. the wings were not up to scratch in my opinion. They were very dry for being just cooked. The sauces for both of these was delightful to taste though. The pulled pork burger was very nice and the coleslaw complemented it nicely. All in all a good finger licking night. A little on the expensive side, but it is North Adelaide. Noise levels are pretty high inside but not bad for all the people that were there.

I’ll just start with LOVETHISPLACE! Home of James Squire, this bar and restaurant has a cool vibe and is definitely a place to hang out with friends. There’s undercover outdoor sitting, canteen style tables in front of the bar, bar seating and a separate dining section for a little bit more privacy or large groups. The new menu by head chef Drew certainly screams American BBQ, low and slow and full of flavour. Wood oven pizzas, buffalo wings, ribs, pulled pork, beef brisket, cobb salad, corn bread, cobb salad, buffalo salad, sides, dessert pies and more are on offer at this place. of course being a James Squire bar, you get it on tap. I’d recommend making reservations as they’re always pretty busy. We went on a Tuesday night and it was still full. The menu is very sharing friendly too with options like meat platter and sides. If you’re in a group I’d suggest considering a big BBQ platter with sides, a couple of salads and pizza to share. We had their buffalo wings which was absolutely delicious. I ordered the Caesar salad which was a great version of the classic interesting salad. We also tried the fried Mozzarella Sticks, they were crumbed cheesy goodness for sure. Another fave of ours was the Pork Ribs, just so tender, so meaty and very flavoursome. Beer paddles are also available. For $ 20 you get to taste 6 beers, then take your paddle back and they’ll give you a schooner of your favourite one! For dessert, we had peanut pie because nutella pie ran out… but peanut pie was delish all the same. Salty ground peanuts, creamy, rich and sinful. It wasn’t a sugar loaded dessert which is great. It’s a place I’ll definitely be visiting again!

Extra star for great general atmosphere. The place gives off a good vibe and great buzz. It honestly seems to be the perfect place to catch up with friends on the weekend or a Friday night after a long week at work over some drinks and food. The beer garden is pretty neat as well and it looks like a great hang out area at night. The décor is pretty amazing I must emphasise. It just feels nice sitting in there. Now to the food. I grabbed the cheeseburger with the ketchup, mustard, Angus beef, picked and the crinkle cut chips on the side. Those chips were the highlight of the meal. Crunchy, not oily and just plain tasty. It came with a small serving of sauce as well but it could have been a bit more generous as I am a big on my sauce. The burger itself is quite generous comparably so to those at nearby burger joints. It was tasty, nice but nothing WOW. It’s something you could easily whip up at home. The service is fantastic. I’ve read a few early reviews about this place’s apparent appalling service but I experienced the contrary. Our waitress was genuinely nice and smiley as well as I think the manager/owner. The only thing I didn’t like was that we had to go up to the counter to order. Would I go again? Yeah, sure why not? Great chill out spot with friends but I’ll make sure I head in early to get some seats!

This is the place to be you want good Aussie beer(mostly James Squire on tap) and authentic American-style BBQ food, and bustling vibe. We were there tonight(mid-week) and the clay oven in front of the«restaurant»(left) of the bar was a welcome sight. I had the foresight to make a reservation and so glad we did because the left side of the dining area with the good chairs had reserved signs on most of the tables. The right side of the dining area looked like metal tables and chairs which would suit medium to large groups. The menu is definitely comfort food for sharing and yes most of it will go straight to your hips. We went for a selection of the yoder plates(slow cooked meats) which was all very flavoursome and moist. The crinkle cut chips were crispy and served in cute round metal baskets. Mozzarella sticks were a winner with the kids — a crispy exterior encasing oozy gooey goodness, served with a marinara sauce. The sides were ok but smaller than I expected. We didn’t have time to try anything from the very sinful but small dessert selection(deep fried Oreos!!! Seriously??) You can checkout the Squire website for their new food and drinks menu. There are also seasonal specials as well as lunch and Tuesday student deals. I didn’t know there was a kids menu(check out the photo I posted) and my four year old son pleased with the selection. It’s family friendly(high chairs available + kids menu), friendly staff, nice vibe. We’ll be back… After I work off tonight’s meal, lol!

Dropped in for a Sunday lunch bite. Perfect atmosphere with afternoon beats & just enough hipster interior design. Opted for the cheeseburger which comes with a serve of chips. Non-greasy, the right amount of meat patty & cheese, lots of it! Food was excellent but service has me split on 50⁄50. Dealt with two different staff members one of which was lovely, the other not so much as he seemed to be glued to the tv and disinterested in serving(I know it’s World Cup time but hey, you’ve got customers to serve!)

Heading for a meal in North Adelaide straight after the first footy game at Adelaide Oval might not have been the smartest idea, but hey, a girls gotta eat! The Curious Squire was PACKED however a staff member went out of his way to seat my friend and I — rearranging seats and whatnot and although they weren’t the best seats in the house… they were still seats! We both ordered the trio of sliders and a pint of James Squire(a different one each) and food came out in a decent enough time. Although the sliders(a beef burger, a hot dog and a chicken burger) weren’t mind blowing amazing, they were still tasty with flavoursome sauces. I enjoyed that the serve came with a side of tomato sauce, as often I have to ask for this. The meal was enjoyable and although the venue busy, it wasn’t unpleasant or noisy — in fact it was nice to be somewhere that was buzzing and full of energy! Top points for service and atmosphere, alright for food.

Have been here multiple times since it opened. I have to say I can’t really fault it except for a few minor details. As you order up at the bar for both drinks and food it keeps most customer-staff interaction to a minimum but it works well for the business. When the customer is ordering staff are able to be quick and get your drink straight away for you to take, which is needed as they get busy! Just dont expect to be coddled or have an in depth discussion. Over dinner time they are packed out, so if you can’t get there early(i.e. 6pm) or you have a larger group you should definitely book! In the past food has taken a while to come out, but mostly that’s because we ordered after all the other big groups. Can’t expect our food to come out before theirs, first come first served! There are multiple James Squire beers and ciders on tap, as well as the typical bar spirits and wines and also some unusual menu items like the cider spider(apple cider with sorbet in it!) Food menu is trendy, catered towards a crowd who enjoy their gourmet burgers and hotdogs, wood fired pizza and a couple of salads for the dieters. Dessert options include nutella pizza and deep fried oreos, so feel sorry for the dieters who then have to try and resist those. Definitely a great place for dinner or drinks!
