The Captain’s Balcony

Choosy drinker? Not a worry because they’ve got you covered. Staff are very friendly, offering help with selection to tasting techniques. The burgers are amazing. Chicken or cheese burgers both are great.

We dropped anchor here on Australia Day as neighboring Small Bar was shut and we weren’t ready to call it quits.
Akash was very welcoming and accommodating. You won’t find draught beer at Captain’s, but the bottled beer selection is pretty decent (think 4Pines and Feral), and the cocktail list is definitely worth checking out. They’re all around $ 16, and the Hold Fast comes topped with a flaming passion fruit (and a warning from Akash to be careful).
There were 7 of us, so we wound up trying quite a few things off the share plates menu. Portions were on the small side, but so were the prices, so you’re encouraged to order a few more plates. Fine by me.
Everyone loved the jalapeño poppers and the hand cut chips. The squid was also given the honour of being ordered for seconds. For veg we had two orders of edamame (with chili flakes) and the popcorn cauliflower with pesto dipping sauce — fantastic.
The burger and sandwich list is very tempting with lobster rolls, Japanese cheese burgers and crispy chicken burgers all making their way towards the top of my to do list. Hopefully Akash doesn’t get sick of me too quickly.
