Rating des Ortes: 5 Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Denmark
Call me crazy, but I’m pretty territorial of my hair. It’s thick, and there is a lot of it, and I have tragically been subject to many a hairstyle-disaster in my years. Bangs? I’ve gotten them. Weird layers that look choppy? Sure. Horrible dye jobs that look DIY? Totally. In NY, I had a lady. I told everyone about her, and my hair served as a model for her amazing skill. It was movie star hair(the water in NY totally helped this cause, while the water in Copenhagen totally works against it, but I digress). It took me years(read: my whole life) to find someone so good, and of course I found her via word of mouth, because Unilocal didn’t exist back then. While I encourage you to trust this review of Dan at RAAH, I do have to say, word of mouth in haircuts is still super important. Anyway, I used to hold out for a haircut until I booked a trip back to NY because My Yolanda(as I call her) is that good. I experienced minor(probably over-exaggerated) panic attacks at the thought of letting someone else touch my hair. But then I kept seeing one of my fabulous coworkers come in with fabulous haircuts and fabulous color(so fabulous I didn’t even know she GOT color) and I simply HAD to ask her where she goes. Turns out, she goes to Dan. And so now I do, too! My first appointment was a breeze. He drew a lovely picture of his vision, candidly told me what style would suit me best, and got ‘er done. I’m not sure how, but even when I style it myself, it still falls just like the picture he drew on the mirror in front of me two weeks ago. Pretty amazing. I understand he’s a busy guy, so if you have the chance to book him for a haircut or color, do not hesitate. Pro-Tip: He only accepts cash and Dankort.
