Auberge Bourguignonne L

Excellent service, acceptable Burgundy food in a restaurant whose dining room looks like it belonged to an English gentleman.
I’m glad to have dressed more on the formal side for dinner because the waitress, host and bus boy were very attentive. Even with our choppy French. They sat us near the window. The servers checked on us frequently and cleaned off our breadcrumbs with a silver hand roller.
I would definitely go with one of their set menus. I choose the Bourguignonne menu with escargot soup, Poulet aux vin, and cheese and raspberry meringue.
My partner ordered the beef Bourguignon and the foie gras.
The escargot soup was rich, filled with leeks and cream. Looked appetizing but the canned escargot lacked flavor and tasted like they were barely placed into the soup. The buttery peeled potatoes tasted like they basted in the soup and were perfectly boiled but I didn’t want to fill up on boiled potatoes.
The beef bourguignon tasted like it lacked salt. And the beef was very well done, slightly dry. Definitely had better beef bourguignon at Caveau des Arches.
Poulet with red wine was simple, a good stewed chicken.
The best dish was the cheese course. I wished they would wheel over a cheese board. However, the cheeses they chose were appetizing and perfect way to end a buttery creamy meal.
Langres (bottom left) was pungent, creamy, nutty and perfect with toasted bread. Goat Brie (bottom right) was creamy and had delicious grassy flavor. The remaining cheeses were more mild and drier.

Au vu des prix et de la renommée de la maison, je vais me montrer plus exigeante que pour les petits restos.
La carte est assez chère. Les entrées vont de 15 à 25 €, les plats de 30 à 35 € et les desserts sont tous à 10 €. Il vaut mieux donc prendre le menu à 38 € si on né veut pas manger qu’un seul plat.
J’ai mangé des œufs en meurette en entrée, une cuisse de volaille avec tagliatelles au beurre, de la faisselle et des profiteroles pour le dessert. On a également pris une bouteille de blanc (St.Aubin 1er cru à 40 € (très bon) et trois verres de rouge (deux Mercuray à 11 € et un à 8 €)
Pour l’entrée, c’était une belle découverte et bien cuisiné mais je les préfère au vin rouge. Pour le plat principal, les tagliatelles arrivées pas très chaudes se sont vite refroidies et je les ai mangées à peine tièdes. Pour le dessert, d’habitude je né prend jamais de profiteroles au restaurant (trop sèche) mais vu la réputation de l’enseigne je me suis laissée tenter. Tout comme pour les gougères offertes à notre arrivée, la pâte à choux était sèche et dure, sortie du congel, et le chocolat était trop amer.
Par contre le service était impeccable, j’ai pu changer le fromage et le dessert du menu pour prendre ceux de mon choix. Les verres de rouge nous ont été offert (sûrement à cause de l’addition plutôt salée, on était 5). Mis à part les quelques points négatifs cités plus haut, le repas était excellent.

The food here was excellent! One of the best meals, no, the best meal, we had in Bourgogne. The beef Bourgogne was great as was the fish with mustard sauce. We had a small cheese course that was fabulous ! Very casual, warm restaurant, with great food.

Schöner Platz unterm Sonnenschirm vorm Restaurant: Schade, wir hatten zum Lunch mehr erwartet! Zwar waren die lauwarmen Gougères als Amuse Geule sehr appetittlich und der marinierte Lachs als einfache Vorspeise gelungen, doch die Hauptgänge mit geschmorter Schweineschulter auf Bandnudeln und Schollenfilets in Hummersauce auf Reis waren nur Durchschnitt. Daran konnte auch die Dreier-​Käseasuwahl der region und eine Vanille-​Velouté mit frischen Himbeeren nichts ändern. Die Weine waren zu teuer: 10 Euro für einen etwas jungen Aloxe Corton im 0,125 Glas fand ich einfach zu teuer. Das nächste Mal gehts in Béaune auf Nummer Sicher ins Les Vignes vom Hotel Cep, da zahlt man für ein Lunch mit Michelin-​Stern auch nur 27 Euro…

C’est un caviste de la région qui nous l’a conseillé et nous n’avons pas été déçus! excellent menu: du bon vin, des assiettes copieuses. Un bémol, nous avons trouvé l’accueil un peu frisquet

This place was referred to us by our hotel. It’s located directly across the street from a public parking lot one block south of the circle or square in Beaune, France. Nothing fancy but nevertheless a good overall restaurant. The only challenge was our inability to communicate very well with the staff. Our French vocabulary is very basic but that’s not going to get you far here. The waiters and waitresses speak very little if any English.
We ordered Mussels and Sea Bass. Both were very good and were accompanied by very delightful vegetables in a herb sauce. Again, the only challenge is the language barrier.

As a non-​French speaker, this is one restaurant where I was at a true disadvantage. No one on staff speaks English, and they’re not very understanding of a language barrier, so brush up on your menu-​reading skills before arriving. Once you’ve ordered, however, you’re in for a decent classically French meal. What takes Auberge Bourguignonne from 3 to 4 stars is the cheese course. The best in the city! Unlike any other restaurant, they wheel over a giant board of cheeses, ranging in ages, flavors and consistencies, and ask «what would you like». Choose up to 5 or 6 and enjoy!

Une charmante soirée
Voici un endroit chaleureux pour sortir un samedi soir. La qualité des plats est au rendez-​vous (oeufs moeurette, mousse de cabillaud et charlotte aux pommes caramélisées). Ce n’est pas le cas partout à Beaune. Un personnel qui prend le temps de parler, voire de blaguer avec les clients. Bref nous avons passé une charmante soirée. Vraiment une adresse à recommander.

A small hotel/​restaurant across from the public parking lot on Rue Madeleine, just outside of the old city. The tables are small, the service a bit slow and the food very good for the money. We’ve eaten here three or four times. No problems. Not the best, but always enjoyable and good value. You can park out front.

Bonne adresse. Cuisine traditionnelle mais très bonne et très bien réalisée. Très bon service, bon conseil pour de bons vins. Prix moyen +.

Die 3 Kochtöpfe mit denen Logis de France dieses Hotel klassifiziert können sich nur auf die Qualität der Speisen, welche o.k. aber nicht überdurchschnittlich waren, beziehen, der Service war desolat, bzw. gar nicht vorhanden. Nicht nur das man das Gefühl hatte, die Kellnerin wäre taubstumm, nein auch das Nachschenken des Weins schien nicht in ihren Kompetenzbereich zu fallen. Nachfragen über Qualität der Speisen oder Service fanden nicht statt. Die Krönung war, dass sie den Serviertisch, der direkt an unserem Tisch stand, für alle Serviertätigkeiten der anderen Tische nutzte. So war es zwar interessant zu sehen, welche Weine die anderen Gäste orderten, bzw welche Reste nach dem Abräumen noch überblieben, diese Art der Unterhaltung finde ich jedoch unangepasst und überflüssig. Kritik unsrerseits wurde mit einem kurzen «Direction du Management» abgebügelt. Fazit: Übernachten ja, aber Beaune hat noch andere nette Restaurants…
